Great
These work great!

Works great, well built
It works great. The exterior build quality looks great. The leads appear well built with good protection while not in use. The care in the quality for the price is commended. I discharged a 400V capacitor in about 10 seconds or less. However, I returned it because I learned my multimeter can also discharge up to 600V using the low impedance function. The multimeter doesn't discharge as fast but it can do 400V it in about 15 seconds and it can't go as high as 1000V.

Worked Well
The product worked well. I had some suspect capacitors that I needed to discharge. The product worked as advertised. The capacitors were successfully discharged.

Great
Definitely does as advertised

Never worked
Wish I had tried this sooner. Digital readout does not work but past the return date.

Does the "Coarse Discharge"
Could write a book here. What it isn't; a passive resistive load that will fully discharge a capacitor to zero. The red and black jacks attach your probes to the part you want to discharge (no need for an external voltage source applied to the 2mm jack). Upon connection meter will come on and display the cap voltage (waning quickly) and then shut off. Sounds easy but there is still around 10 to 15V present. What this is: an active load utilizing transistor Q1 that current sinks until the cap voltage is to the point where the display and discharging circuitry runs out of operating voltage and then the display shuts down and the load across the probes goes high Z. There is a generous portion of proprietary goop on much of the circuitry so I'm not going to reverse engineer this further. I don't want to use this unit as a guinea pig to see if the red and black leads cease being a load and act as a high Z DVM for measuring voltages when the 2.1mm plug is provided with an external voltage vaguely described as 12/24v. Does that mean 12-24 volts? By the way the 2.1mm jacked is center POS via diode D1. Full wave rectifier DB1 allows for AC and more importantly DC of either polarity to convert this to a sample DC for a cheapo DVM if you've worked out the external power supply enigma. This works fine for me to remove the brunt of the voltage when I'm servicing vacuum tube amplifiers with 400-500v caps no larger than 100uF. The quick meter display gives me certainty that I'm actually discharging the cap, at least down to the 10 or so voltages across the supply filter caps. That residual voltage across that small capacity won't hurt any of the tube amp circuitry or myself and I can come in for the kill with an alligator clip to finish the deal. Obviously if you're working with several thousand uF and sensitive circuitry this is not going to be on your dinner plate. So, in short (ha, ha) this works for me. Can't give this 5 stars due to the extremely crappy info provided along with equally vague youtube videos.

So-so
The item received isn't exactly like the picture. The item is supposed to have a voltage test input on one end and the capacitor probe connectors on the other. Mine only had the capacitor connections. It worked OK but was disappointed that the voltage tester was removed.
