Solid Protection
It's a piece of aluminum. I don't know if this is guard is a lot heavier than the carbon fiber ones, but the weight doesn't seem to be much of an issue with my Phantom 2 vision Plus. Added weight might even give it a little more stability in winds. I will say that there are no issues regarding strength and it protects the camera well and makes landing a little safer. When taking off in grass it makes it a little easier by holding some of the grass down around the camera.
