Review: Great quality - I’ve been using the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer, and overall I’m very impressed with the quality, comfort, and support it provides. I was looking for something that would give my ankle better stability without feeling overly bulky or uncomfortable, and this brace has worked very well for me. The first thing I noticed is how well the brace fits around the ankle. The figure-eight strap design provides a secure, supportive feel and helps keep the ankle from moving in ways that can cause discomfort or instability. The brace feels sturdy without being excessively heavy, and I appreciate that it provides support while still allowing me to walk and move around relatively naturally. The material and construction also seem very durable. The stitching, straps, and overall design give the impression that this is a brace made for regular use rather than something that will wear out quickly. The straps are easy to adjust, which makes it possible to get the right amount of compression and support depending on what I’m doing. Another thing I really like is that it fits inside my regular athletic shoes. I expected an ankle stabilizer with this level of support to be difficult to wear with shoes, but it has been much easier than I anticipated. Once adjusted properly, it stays in place and doesn’t constantly slide around or need to be readjusted. The brace has also given me more confidence when walking and being active. If you have an ankle that tends to feel weak, unstable, or needs additional support during physical activity, having a brace like this can make a noticeable difference in how secure you feel. I also like that the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer doesn’t feel overly complicated. It’s straightforward to put on and adjust, and once you figure out the proper strap placement, it becomes quick and easy to use. The combination of support, adjustability, and relatively comfortable fit makes it a very practical option for everyday use. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer to anyone looking for a well-made ankle brace that offers strong support without being unnecessarily bulky. It feels durable, stays securely in place, and provides a good balance between stability and mobility. For me, it has been a worthwhile purchase and a product I would feel comfortable using regularly.
Review: Good for Ankle Sprain Recovery, Not So Good for Achilles Tendon - Overall, this is a high quality, durable ankle brace that's mostly well designed and constructed of good durable materials. Except for the top of the heel opening cutting into my Achilles tendon, it's comfortable and provides very good lateral support. (4.5 stars) I felt the pressure on my Achilles at first and after two days, it was hurting worse than my ankle, even for 12 hours after taken it off. I’ve been experimenting with alternative options to prevent the sharp pressure on my Achilles because I need to wear it more when I’m less laid up and getting about. I wish they could adjust the design to be more Achilles friendly. Otherwise, it’s great for the ankle. The stiffness of the brace materials relaxes some after wear, but still remain strong. Not pulling the lateral straps as tight also doesn’t compress the heel opening down on the Achilles as much. There’s a balance between comfort and lateral stability when it comes to tightening the straps. Less critical to tighten for greater immobilization further into recovery. I’m using it for walking around, but not resting with my leg up for longer periods. The natural tendency for my foot to be greater than a 90° angle with my legs up and stretched out causes more of a pinch at the back at my Achilles, so I wear an Ace bandage at those times. I think this has more to do with an incompatibility of my knobby heel with the general design and mechanics of this type / style of brace. I've have heel rubbing issues with certain brands of hiking shoes and boots. The memory of having Achilles discomfort with my previous brace, but not so bad, came back to me. "Normal" feet aren’t supposed to have problems. It kind of comes down to exchanging Achilles discomfort for good ankle support and being careful not to cause an Achilles injury. I recently bought a second ASO brace immediately after an inversion ankle sprain. My ankle feels very stable and protected wearing it. It seems to be the same quality and design as a previous ASO brace I bought about 10 years ago, which I needed to wear for 4 weeks after 12 weeks of being in a boot from a leg fracture and torn ankle ligaments. Most of the surrounding muscles, including my calf muscles had atrophied after 12 weeks recovery in the boot, so likely the brace fit differently making it less problematic on my Achilles then. I wore it walking around town and on my feet at work all day. After 4 weeks of wear, it went to a friend who had sprained her ankle and she reported it helped. It definitely held up after a lot of use. The brace fits well inside lace-up shoes that you can spread open a little more, or while wearing house slippers with a larger opening you can stretch a bit. It’s much less bulky than an Ace bandage wrap for getting your foot inside shoes. It also stays put once it’s on. Ordering a smaller size, which has a smaller heel hole and rests lower to near the top of my heel bone (calcaneus) wasn’t a solution. It was too small. So the original size small I measured using the circumference chart was the best option.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My daughter's foot measures a 12". She wears an 8.5 shoe. this is right in between med and sm. Which size would be best?**
A: I measured at 12" and wear an 8.5 women's shoe. I opted for the medium (so my husband could also use it if needed). However, it's laced up pretty much all the way. A small probably would've been better for me. I agree with another comment - if you're borderline, order down!

**Q: How do I tell what sixe ASO I need?**
A: ASO SIZING CHART - SHOE SIZE

2X-Small

(Men's 5 - 6; Women's 4 - 5)

X-Small

(Men's 6 - 7; Women's 5 - 6)

Small

(Men's 7 ½ - 9; Women's 6 ½ - 8)

Medium

(Men's 9 ½ - 11; Women's 8 ½ - 10)

Large

(Men's 11 ½ - 13; Women's 10 ½ - 12)

X-Large

(Men's 13 ½ -15; Women's 12 ½ - 14)

2X-Large

(Men's 15 - 16; Women's 15+)

3X-Large

(Men's 16+)

**Q: Would size 11 mens USA be a large ?**
A: I have a size 11 men USA. I ordered the large, and I think it is just a little bit too big. However, it still gets the job done with stabilizing my ankle, but I would have liked to have tried the medium to see if it was more of a snug fit.

**Q: I am looking for a volleyball ankle support, will do this a good job. I used buy stuff from CVS but looking for a better quality product.**
A: My teenage daughter plays both school and club volleyball and uses this brace...it's been great! Remember no brace will work if not the right fit though...she wears size 12 shoes but size small brace because the size depends on your ankle size not your foot length...I see lots of size questions and this is important bc if the brace is too big it offers very little support.
