Strong and well built
Nice and heavy and well built. Bought it for a xvs950 and I had to drill two new holes that was easy and everything work great.

It good enough for my purpose, but it could be a lot better
Just finished installing the sissy bar and luggage rack on my V*650 Silverado. Had some trouble with the bolts holding on my saddle bags, but that's not the fault of the part. The fit and finish is pretty low end. The braze-on parts are very poorly done. There are no instructions. Sure it's easy, but it would be nice to have the left and right bracket labeled. I had to figure out in what order the three parts connect. The luggage rack goes on the outside, holding in the mounting bracket that flares out way to much. After flexing the metal to hold on the rack, I put on the back rest inside of the mounting flange. This differs from the photo from the product page in Amazon, which has the mounting bracket on the outside. The pad is flat cheap. It has low end foam on the inside and the vinyl is very thin. It won't last being out in the elements for very long.I really don't care how comfortable the pad is because I purchased a sissy bar mounted backpack for commuting and no one is expected to ride pillion. The chrome is very shiny, but something tells me it will rust before long. I'll probably have to paint it a bit to keep it from turning rusty, but can't really tell for sure at this point. My bike is stored in the garage, so it should be OK for a while. Finally the angle the sissy bar meets the luggage rack is a fairly acute angle. It's going to be interesting when I try to put a bag there. It will have to be a very unconstructed bag because a sturdy square bag wont fit behind the sissy bar and over the luggage rack.Overall, it's cheap and I knew I was buying cheap. It will fulfill my current purpose, and that's enough.

Had to add a holes and notch the mounting bar to fit a 2002 VStar
So we purchased this for my husbands 02 VStar for me to be able to ride with him. Everything was great accept the back holes of the mounting brackets didn't line up with his bikes existing mounting spots. So he had to drill new holes. (one on each side). Also the back of the mounting bracket needed to be notched with an angle grinder because of the tail lights.Other then the mod that was needed for his 02 VStar it is a good product. I am 5'4 and about 130 lbs. The top of the pad is right below my shoulder blades and was very comfortable. I felt very secure leaning back against it. (I am an inexperienced passenger)I am giving it an overall rating of 4 as the passenger who is actually using it, and 2 for "easy to install" as once it was modified yes it was easy to install.

DOES NOT FIT!
I have a 2008 V Star 650. The brackets holes don't even come close to fitting. I'm not at all happy. Now i'm stuck with something that I can't use unless in drill into my chrome.
