I bought this to replace the old shift shutter , which if you are looking at this probably means you have te same problem as all driver's of s40's /v50s volvos which are over 10 years old- these things disintegrate.I put this on my car, with the expectation that it would solve the problem of not having the geartronic selection, being able to put it into manual mode.Put this part on- and yes I did put it on correctly- didn't work.I ended up going down a rabbit hole, replacing the Gear Selector Module 3 times( from the pull apart Junkyard) the central control / climate module..tracing wires from the interior out to who knows where.I pulled another one of these off a junkyard volvo- and it actually ended up solving the problem. So all along it was this thing. It just didn't work properly, the magnet was either too strong, too weak, not...how it should be.Wasted time. wasted money.
