Wow! Perfect scant seams; Perfectly sized pieces; Perfectly straight seams!
Okay, so I’m new to quilting…made about 5 very simple quilts which turned out okay. My new Janome has a ¼” foot, and I’ve been happy with it, until I realized that my postage stamp quilt squares were not turning out right. Ten 10-inch squares should measure 10” (not including seam allowances), but I was losing almost ½ inch! I just started to work my way through Harriet Hargrave’s Quilter’s Academy, Vol. 1, and one of the first lessons is on how to get a perfect scant ¼” seam. I realize now my ¼” foot is not scant, although it does make a perfect ¼” seam, which IS the problem. I purchased this Sewing Edge (along with the Perkins Perfect Piecing Seam Guide) and was able to place this purple strip in the exact place I needed to guide my fabric through. I had to cut a shorter piece, to sit on my bobbin case door (lid?), and I put another strip just past the door, down the front of my machine. The fabric glides along the side of the strip like a dream, and feeds it into the foot at the perfect width from the needle. It’s actually works much better than the ¼” foot because it keeps the fabric feeding in a perfect straight line, something I’ve had trouble with. I did Harriet’s piecing lesson, and my piece came out exactly the right size on the first try (and the straightest seam I’ve ever sewn). I couldn’t be happier, and I feel confident that my future quilts (and the rest of my postage stamp squares) will be right on, and many potential future frustrations will be averted. Well worth the tiny investment. They are reusable, and 5 strips should last me a long time. Wish I’d done this a year ago.Note: The package instructions included do have a paper version of the Perkins seam guide, which you can cut out and use to measure your scant ¼”. I think I prefer the more solid and see-thru Perkins.Update: It's really bazaar how Amazon moves reviews to some different random product ...anti fungal cream?????? Hey, what gives? This was a review of a sewing product.

THIS WORKS!! IT REALLY WORKS!
I really do love this product! I use it all the time as the little "ledge" it creates allows for me to guide my fabrics through more quickly on WHATEVER seam allowance I choose to create. It's like having your own 1/4", 1/2", 5/8" 1 1/2" or whatever inch setting you need, without having to change out your sewing feet. Simply use your seam gage and measure from where the needle stitches into your fabric, over to where you want your seam to be, then apply the sticker edging and voila, you're ready to sew! It comes with more than 1 so you can use on multiple machines. I even trimmed one sticker down to fit both of my industrial serger and hem roller machines. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the serious sewer or even a newby!

Amazing
Once I started using this for chain piecing, I couldn't imagine sewing without it. You can stick it on your throat plate at 1/4 inch minus a few threads, and forget about it. It makes the piecing SO much more accurate. I sewed a bunch of quilt pieces together, and then took a break to work on something else, and I just stuck the strip on the side of my machine until I needed it again. I think I've moved it a dozen times, and it still sticks perfectly. And that's just the first strip out of six in the package. This will make your sewing so much easier - just do yourself a favor and try it.

Great seam guide
THese work perfect for guiding fabric along the machine to keep a perfect seam allowance. They stick well to my plastic machine bed and rarely do I need to change them out. They do collect stuff after a while, and while they say you can wash it and put it back, I found it lost most of the stickiness after washing. But, for using them as a seam guide, they are wonderful! No longer do I have to work so hard at keeping a straight line, these do it for me

I love these strips
I love these strips! Easy for placement and they stay in place pretty well. The only problem I have with them, is after awhile, they build up fuzz and threads... but that's just because I use them so much. The fabric butts right up against strip and is easy to sew a straight seam. I have to remove mine to change my bobbin. Otherwise, they probably wouldn't get as fuzzy. Once they are, though... they won't hold. I bought my second pack, as I ended up giving some away to friends, I liked them so much.

Great Guide
I just installed this on my machine and it seems to provide a great guide for my fabric while I'm sewing. I needed something to help me while quilting. I just installed it, so I can't attest to it's overall performance (longevity) but will revise this review if needed. So far, it works as expected and provides a great lip for my fabric to glide along. My 1/4" seam is much more steady than it would be if I had sewn it without the guide. Worth the investment in my book.

Works great to delineate my seamline on the sewing machine bed
Works great to delineate my seamline on the sewing machine bed. I did have to cut it into 2 pieces as I have a drop in bobbin and part of the piece was stuck onto the bobbin housing top, and the other piece is where it continued onto the machine throat.

In my opinion it is the next best thing to having a 1/4inch presser foot
As a quilting newbie I can not praise this tool enough. In my opinion it is the next best thing to having a 1/4inch presser foot. I would suggest to anyone new to quilting to invest in this tool before buying a 1/4 foot. I have had such wonderful success with my precise 1/4 inch seam allowances.
