Q: can they be used for heated hot air?

***only this is, it may get brittle over time depending on how hot the air is. So keep that in mind.

Q: If i cut a 4" hole in drywall, how does this vent cover slide through the hole with the fins that come out the sides? Also how should I secure it?

A perfect size hole secures it pretty goo. The black insert piece slides into your hole, and the white part just slides into the black sleeve. You can secure the black sleeve if needed with a screw or caulk but the little wings do pretty good. The white part that has the fins should not be fastened, you’ll need to be able to remove it for cleaning

Q: Are the vents fixed or moveable?

The vents are mounted in an outer plastic sleeve that is made to "lock" into the hole drilled for them, and they are able to be turned in that outer sleeve. Mine were to be stationary so I removed them from the sleeve and used construction adhesive to mount them. The louvers are slanted to make any water spray drip off them when placed with the louvers pointing down. Mine are mounted in a steel foam core exterior door for a mechanical room.
