UPDATE: After carrying out a routine software update,(speed cameras & speed limits updater progs) the procedure for doing this is not the most efficient process, and there is a huge risk that you can "brick" the unit if anything happens during the downloading process(mentioned in the instructions for updating). My snooper "did" exactly that, and though it has a reset button this does not actally do anything but leave the machine in a frozen state, and most electronic products such as this would have a backup non volatile system software that will reset the unit back to factory, but not this model, you will have to pay for the privellege of snooper resetting it at their factory,they are not willing to provide you with an ssd disc. After numerous attempts to get the unit reset i realised that it had completey wiped its system files on its drive and that means it will not work until this reloaded with its operating system by the manufacturer(what a con). I simply cannot understand why a product supplied to the general public at such a high cost in comparison to other products of a more sustainably reliable operating software is able to be and passed to be a saleable product. My contacting snooper for help was not exactly helpfull as they requested a multitude of evidence of the problem i.e serial no,purchase reciept,place of purchase,etc, plus videos of the issue itself of which required my having to use editing software(to produce a decent descriptive video) to reduce the video size for email use due to size limitations within an email attachment. After waiting 2 days i decided to contact snooper for an update, and all they could suggest was that i send my unit to them at my expence and they would be charging me a fee of 50 quid to reload the files, and i had to cover all carriage costs. I have therefore informed them that i will just bin the product as it is not that reliable as it has missed loads of camera vans in the last few months,(the reason for my updating it) and in particular a one on my own road that caught me leaving for work at 43 in the 40mph within 200 mtres of the 60 limit change, but thank heavens i was offered the drivers course that saved me getting points no thanks to SNOOPERS product, but i have opted for a replacement and purchased a road angel product that is far superior and cheaper to say the least, and the same cost as the repair charges snooper want me to pay for a useless product so it was a no brainer really. I would definately not recommend this product(it is not even worth the 1 star) as i have lost faith in it (hence why i have binned it), and these days you need a reliable product to help to maintain the correct speeds in areas that you are not familiar with, and as a field service engineer who covers more than 5 counties and its such a problem with all of the road workings and alterations ,CAMERA VANS,SPECS CAMERAS,at every posible location to be totally knowlegable and safe on any roads thesedays.

Sound quality is ok and lower price than on amazon than eBay Works well and saves getting a fine well worth the money and good warnings

Negatives - No mobile speed camera alert for known spots. When I quizzed customer service to update this they said its currently illegal to have these on the permanent database. Battery life won't last longer than 2 hours when fully charged, needs a permanent lead plugged in car charger. Updating the database of speed limits and cameras requires a windows pc. Positives - Fixed cameras are all there even if some spots haven't been active for 10yrs+. Big and bold speed limits on display make it easy to see the speed of the road and your vehicle. Alerts for when you go over the speed limit and when the speed limit changes make this a game changer for myself. Dues to the above my mpg has increased by 5mpg. An option to add to the camera database on the device like you can on the saphe would be welcome in further updates. Although it's a little over priced. This is a great device for keeping on the right side of the law and wouldn't drive without it.

After having a speeding ticket for a few MPH over limit I decided to get some protection, this may seem a bit pricey but it is cheaper than a fine and points and all the hassle. In Britain there seem to bee too many speed limits, a lot more 20mph limits appearing and on main roads that used to be 60, sections are now 50 or lower. This helps firstly because it quickly tells you the limit on the present road ( which are not always well marked ) and a loud double beep when limit changes. Also alerts you to areas where mobile cameras lurk, and also fixed cameras. I found that with newer camera types you can no longer rely on lines in the road to tell you a camera is there. The camera that got me was actually facing into a traffic light controlled junction and I assumed it was a red light camera ( no lines in the road ) but I found out that it doubles as red light and speed camera... Every day is a schoolday, but some are more expensive that others. EDIT Aug 2024 - Been using Snooper for about 11 months and found out from experience that my Garmin Satnav unit has a far more up-to-date speed limit database than the Snooper. I have updated snooper frequently since I got it, but still find a lot of speed limits ( especially ones that have gone down from 60 to 50, and 30 to 20 ) that I know have been in existence for a year or more, but have not been updated on the snooper, I have also noticed that speed cameras that were installed over 6 months ago do not show up. It seems that Snooper are not very diligent with keeping up with speed limits and cameras, which defeats the object of a pretty expensive stand-alone speed camera device. Have reduced stars from5 to 2, the unit is good for telling you which road you are traveling on, but not much more.

It does the job but the speed of vehicle isn't very accurate, it is rather quite and I can't hear it with the radio on. I really bought it so I can always be sure what the current speed limit is, it does that well but is rather expensive.

This product is worth every penny its kept my licence safe by keeping me informed of speed limits and cameras

In Australia. Would not detect speed limits. Only speed of car. After contacting seller/manufacturer and getting slow responses I followed all instructions. After a few months they admitted updates are not supported in Australia!!!! Before you buy ask for a written disclosure it is supported outtside Europe

Product doesn't work as intended. Needed something to beep at me whenever I go over the speed l'm and to keep beeping. Only beeps when the speed changes but doesnt have a way to alert you if your speeding.
