Use peanut butter, it breaks down the adhesive. Leave it on over night and it will scrap right off. Peanut butter works on any hard surface

I have used it on book covers and other damageable surfaces with good results. It really matters what type of label you are dealing with more than what the label is stuck to, as some labels are difficult to remove as they age and the adhesive dries out.

Can this remove stubborn stickers on any item?

Yes for the most part, the only place that sometimes is almost impossible to remove is some price stickers on paperback books or dust jackets of books.
