EHEIM Substrat Pro Biological Filter Media (Sintered Pearl-Shaped Glass) 2L

This is the same size as biohome gravel except not as expensive, yay! I fit the whole box of 2 Liters, into 2 'Seachem Tidal 75' hob filters.This stuff helps me take advantage of every space available for biological filtration. The water in my 50 gallon is crystal clear. Most importantly no ammonia or nitrites; and my nitrates are barely detectable! This stuff works!

Good stuff. One 2L box fills one tray in my SunSun 303B external canister filter. My kids (which means me) inherited a 20 gal tank with 5 goldfish in it and as anyone who is in the know, knows, that is WAY bad overload. Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates were all above super critical levels as you can imagine. Got a cheap Sunsun canister and put some of this in it.Did some water changes to reduce all levels immediately but now that I have a couple trays full of this stuff my ammonia and nitrates are ZERO! Always. I still have to do waters changes twice a week to keep the Nitrates in check but that's not a big deal.Side note: Appears the Sunsun's might just be a rebranded JBJ rector, made by the same company. If so then these Sunsun canisters are probably better than the price suggests. They might be a sleeper....anyways...thats a review for a different page.

This media seems to trap and absorb well. Also, can be reasonably cleaned and reused. Takes a few days soaking, rinsing, drying, but easy for a retiree. Store the recycled batch for use as a layer below the new same media. Pitch recycled as you desire. Good LuckRichly Rewarded

It's the secret to a stable and beautiful tank.

I had never used media like this for an aquarium. When starting a new betta tank I decided, after research, to try this as the media in the filter. It has worked great. Initial cycling of the tank when smoother than I have ever experienced and the parameters have been stable ever since with routine maintenance. I plan to swap out a HOB filter's pad for this media in the future it worked so well.

With other “chunky” media it fits less in your canister. Now this one it fits a lot like every inch in your basket filled. Creates a big amount of surface area for bacteria to grow.Ps. Using on a Fluval 407 the 2L media fills two baskets to the brim and a perfect fit.

Authentic item at an awesome price! I'm soo glad to check on Amazon for prices before going to an actual pet shop. I got it for less than half of retail price and a big box.

I am not able to distinguish different kinds of biological substrate, but this appears to work very well. Meets my expectations.
