You gotta have the poop bag!
Look !!! If u want less maintenance. Less test strips or none @ all. You need this poop bag. This can be changed every 3 weeks or. Rinse it every 4-5 days and get 6 weeks out of it. But if you struggle with green water. Brown water, nasty water. And no matter what- you can’t have crystal clear water. You need good filtration. And these poop bags. No sun light u will get algae bloom always. And UV bulbs for the filtration tank to kill algae as it grows.. that’s it crystal clear!water all day long. Water changes barely never. No algae and the poop bags keep the nitrates low !!! Check each week the bag and filters. Easy…. I literally change the water 30% every six weeks and clean the filter and bags every 2 weeks.

Definitely a positive for aquarium fans
I have a Fluval 304 filter that I've been using with a 50 gallon freshwater tank for several years. The 304 has 4 filtration stages, the first being a coarse foam. The remaining 3 stages can be filled with products that work best for the aquarist's needs. In my case, I use charcoal, this ammonia remover, the Biomax Bio Rings, and water polishing pads. Since the trays for each stage is divided, it's possible to fit both the charcoal and the ammonia remover in the first tray. I've been using this filter in this configuration for several years, and it's worked perfectly for my needs. The ammonia remover helps to alleviate some of the toxicity caused by waste, and extends the time between water changes. I change about half of the water in the aquarium monthly and clean the filter at that time, and give the aquarium a thorough cleaning every 3 months. Each aquarium is unique to it's configuration, location, and inhabitants. Some may have different experiences, but this product has played a key role in our system for quite a few years. Unintentionally, we've been breeding albino catfish... as I understand, tank conditions have to be fairly consistent for them to breed and survive. My take away on that is that we must be doing something right.

A necessary piece of your filtration process in canister filters
I requested the Fluval Ammonia Remover because of successful previous experience with the product, and, because this size is more economical than the other sizes. I use a large bag of it, along with several other types of chemical media to keep the nitrites, nitrates, and ammonia at bay in our 125-gallon aquarium. One of the other chemical media types is a treated filter designed to remove ammonia and we use another filter that is treated to remove nitrites. So far, we've been able to go 8 weeks between the 40-50% water changes and 6-8 weeks between canister filter cleanings. Understand that we remove the fish and food waste as best we can on a daily basis. The average daily removed volume is generally between 5-10 gallons, which we replace with liberal amounts of nitrifying bacteria additions. So far, ammonia test coefficient has remained stable at ZERO for the last four months. It sure beats the process we were dealing when Oscar was in a 55-gallon tank where the ammonia and nitrites were running sky-high every other day. Talk about water changes out the wazoo...sheesh. I hope we never have to endure moving 40-50 gallons a day again.

This ammonia remover is a great component to include with a Fluval canister filter
This ammonia remover is a perfect component to include with a Fluval canister filter, we have the Fluval FX4 for our red eared slider in a 55 gallon tank and this helps keep the water crystal clear for extended periods of time. If you've always struggled keeping a turtle tank clean, a canister filter with this ammonia remover is definitely going to save you a lot of time and headache. You should also consider adding the biological material remover along with this product.

Works for HOB filter
I have a whisper hob filter that I use with the tetra bags but I do not add the charcoal that comes with them. I make my own filtration media which includes some of this ammonia remover, just to be safe. Works well and got me past a really high spike without any casualties
