There is NO such thing as trying!
I’ve read countless books throughout my life. However, I’ve never read a book that made me say, ‘If you can’t say Amen, say OUCH!’ over and over and over again. And to be completely honest; I needed to say OUCH about my finances. We have to get to a point in our lives where we face the truth and make a decision to suck it up and fix it. ‘Real Money Answers for Every Woman: How to Win the Money Game With or Without a Man’ is a life-changing, YES, life-changing step-by-step and how to guide on how to improve your financial situation by changing your mindset and removing your excuses. After reading this book, I have deleted the word ‘TRY’ from my vocabulary. I’m only using it now to prove a point, but after this review, the word will be non-existent to me. There is no such as ‘TRYING’ either you’re doing something or you’re not doing it. From the moment I read Patrice C. Washington’s words, ‘Stop telling me what you are trying to do. You’re either doing or you’re not doing. There is no in-between.’ I knew instantly that I picked up the right book for me. If you want to read real, actionable, knowledgeable, and reliable advice on how to win in the money game, this book is a must read. Patrice takes you through 5 steps of understanding your finances including: Assessment, Goal Setting, Creating a Plan, Execution, and Re-Assessment. Most importantly, you will learn how to get rid of every single excuse that you have about money, and you’ll be ready to win in the money game. You will have goals with timelines and you’ll see the results. This book will change your life!

A MUST READ for Real World, Practical, Commonsense and Actionable Financial Advice!
As an avid consumer of books on personal finance, this book has now been added to my list of highly recommended personal finance books to be read by women, young and old. It's right up there with Suze Orman, Chris Hogan and Dave Ramsey, in my opinion! It's worth sharing with every young woman you know just to give them a head start on making wise choices.Ms. Washington does an extraordinary job of providing real world, practical advice and wisdom about most of the financial challenges that folks are secretly dealing with in their daily lives.I love that she put a different spin on the "emergency fund" and guides you on how to evaluate the different relationships and situations that come up throughout our lives. I'm a staunch believer in operating debt free without credit cards and this book will help you get to that place regardless of how deep in the hole you are.I think it's brilliant that she starts the book out by addressing Money Mindset issues because so many of us repeat the same behaviors over and over without learning what the root cause is in our belief system.I was surprised that much wasn't included about the ROTH IRA and the options available to the self-employed since so many people do have side businesses. Perhaps in her next book....There is much here to digest, ponder and take action on in your own financial journey. You will refer back to it over and over again. Enjoy!

Great Book on Personal Finance for Women with a few misses imo...
This book is the most thorough book I have every read on personal finance. I think it should be required reading since financial literacy is an area of lack for many of us. I realized I need to do a better job of staying on top of my bank statements, budgeting and financial planning for the future. The only reason this is four stars and not five is because in one part of the book where she is providing questions you should ask your romantic partner--she gave no context for when these questions should be asked. I don't think bringing up finances is even appropriate until you're an official item not in the early dating stages unless it is just something basic like career and lifestyle preference. Also, in another section of the book she is assuming women who are interested in men with financial stability are automatically gold diggers. I don't think it is fair to paint a brush over all women who prefer men of means. Many women are career women and simply want a guy on their level or higher. Some women want to be taken care of financially. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. No one should judge what someone chooses to do or not do. Even for family, she is advising you not help your family even if you have the means to do so...which I don't think was the right advice.

Not only was it brilliantly written with loads of information and invaluable resources
Patrice C. Washington substantiated her craft as a finance maven in this book. Not only was it brilliantly written with loads of information and invaluable resources, but it was also captivating, and a page turner for me! I thought I knew enough about finance; however, this book proved otherwise, thankfully! Each page was a reflection of the author's passion and sheer sense of obligation to educate and help her readers. I can relate to this book on many levels, particularly with the amount of student loan I've accrued; and as a mother, there are phenomenal financial principals highlighted in this book that I'm looking forward to teaching and practicing with my children! Most importantly, I'm anxious to gift my kids with this book, someday. This book is a real financial guide for better decision-making!!!Get your copy; it's worth it!!!

WIN at the money game with these REAL money answers!
This is not a “nice” book to read. This is a MUST book to read. Not only does this book cover the topic of money and kids, but it covers every single topic of money you can think of (getting out of debt, how to save for college, how to get your credit score right and tight, how to tackle money and marriage/relationships, how to say no to family members/friends who keep asking you for money, etc). Seriously, you can’t get any more real about the money answers Patrice shares in this book than this.Patrice gives, real, honest and practical tips to winning at the money game. I’m determined to end the generational negligence on money in our family and it’s starting with how we raise our kids to understand how it works.
