Is this comparable with the 2019 macbook air?

Hello Mate Yes, this is compatible with the 2019 MacBook air(for as I know), there is two thunderbolts 3 port on the left side of the MacBook air which would fit this USB-c hub adapter comfortably :)

Does this provide pass thru charging? Or is it data only?

no it does not let you charge your device while plugged in and you can not use it while a cover is on either. very disappointed in this product.

Is there something i have to do to get my 2021 macbook air to recognize the adapter? it is plugged in, with an sd card in it and nothing...

Not sure. I don’t have any sd disks to try. Works with USB so far. Ask the manufacturer.
