Q: Do you pour the water from this into the dripper, or do you put the dripper on top of this item and use this to brew the coffee?

Q: Does it come with the round wood ring it shows on the decanter or is that a separate purchase?

It does include the olive wood top. Admittedly, it's not my favorite feature; it looks nice, but the fit has a good amount of wobble to it. It also takes a disconcerting amount of force to seat the metal tabs of the top into the glass server. Anyway, yes it is included! :)
