This man was highly dedicated and has large numbers of studies and results that will be useful to doctors of the future or anyone seeking relief from medical problems relating to the nervous system. We need to remember the nervous system is set up so that what you see or think will be reflected in some neurohormone effect in some part of the body. Over time there can be changes that cause what is thought of as a disease or a discomfort. Many times, people like Upledger will have the answers when the patient has obtained no relief from standard Western Medicine. I have several of his books and find them to be fascinating and useful. This book seemed to be written more for the therapist of Craniosacral therapy than the patient, but it gives you an idea of what Crainiosacral therapy is and you can find a therapist in your area no doubt. I would also read one of Dr John Sarno's books to understand the Mind-Body connection and as an MD he gives many examples of cases he has treated as well to relieve people's medical problems such as back pain. Why not have an open mind? It is not invasive as surgery would be and not as expensive! Review: If you're curious about cranial work, this is a great place to start. From the horse's mouth! - Easy reading, lots of good, easy to understand information on a variety of CST topics. This is a great book for practitioners, and anyone else interested in learning more about this somewhat mysterious practice. Cranial sacral therapy works! I have had great results both giving and receiving this therapy. It worked better than deep tissue work on my ancient rotator cuff injury, and was certainly much more pleasant and relaxing than deep tissue work ever dreamed of being!

Excellent Introduction to Craniosacral Therapy
This book describes Dr. Upledger's personal experiences as he learned about osteopathy and craniosacral therapy. It is clearly written and easy to read. The style is engaging. It is written for the average person who is interested in the healing arts. You do not need to be a medical professional to understand or employ the strategies described by Dr. Upledger. The book includes a bibliography of additional references as well as a list of resources that may be of interest to readers.

Good entry point for craniosacral therapy
I've been training in CST since 2010 and this is still one of my favorite books by Dr. Upledger. I recommend it to anyone interested in craniosacral therapy. It tells wonderful stories of his first encounter with the mysteries of fascia, and various people he worked with in his early career. The overall system is explained simply for anyone interested in the details. I'm in it for the client stories, though. This is what actually happened, and it's an easy way to see why CST is so amazingly awesome!

Good Book!
I think this book is real interesting. I think Mr. Upledger, if he 'boasts', he has a right to! He's made so many accomplishments FOR other people. I don't always like to read these types of trials and their outcomes, but this is real interesting and he is also a good writer! Keeps me interested. I am a lay person, & there were only a few words that I had to look up that are pertaining to the skeleton.I know that I'll have to read it again to try and get everything to sink in because I'm like that. This is not a book that tells you the 'hows' to use the Craniosacral on yourself, but he gives you plenty of examples of what it is for. Good reading, thank you

Well written, I just wanted more exercises
One of my teachers recommended this book for learning how to use your body's inner wisdom around health challenges. Dr. U is clearly brilliant and it was very enjoyable to read all the stories. I ended feeling slightly disappointed that it wasn't more of a "how to" book....it has inspired me to see if I can find a provider locally to take me through a session.

Great Guidelines
Since I am a CranioSacral Therapist, this is one of my favorite books of all time. I was really able to connect with Dr. John in this book and understand how and why he developed CranioSacral Therapy. By setting up the Upledger Institute, Clinic, and Foundation in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, he was able to bring this to the rest of the world by creating the largest traveling Healing Arts Institute. And I'm so glad he did, because it changed my life and my life's work...for the better!

Ce livre introduit a l'œuvre dUpledger, certainement l'une des meilleures écoles. Il est dommage que ses ouvrages ne soient pas tous accessibles en français.

This book is easily accessible for the lay person and a great way in to understanding the concept of craniosacral therapy. It explains how John Upledger witnessed the craniosacral system at work, pulsating with its own cycle. Upledger has further developed William Sutherland's discoveries, and his passion for the subject, plus his compassion for patients, sweeps the reader along. A thoroughly enjoyable and educational read.

I love it! It's a gift for my chiropractor...I owned this book and lent it out about 20 years ago and didn't get it back, so I'm so relieved that Amazon, my online favourite, found it for me.
