I was intrigued that someone would write a book on a female character who really wanted to "win." That's the general concept of the book. And the girl in this book didn't seem to care what activity she "won," just so she won.The book has a surprise ending. The values it touches are: strong female self concept, acceptance of failure, willingness to try many activities of all types, and in the end achieving victory!

My son and I are in love with every story written by Simon. We have them all and we strongly recommend them. But this story, in particular, saved me a lot of talk with my son about being ok with not winning all the time. We had fun reading it and we kept saying WIN WIN WIN!!!

Positive book about not always winning and that being ok, helped my son who always wants to be first.

Very simple message to this book. You don’t have to win, just enjoy what you do. Watch out for I really want the cake.
