Favorite book of my 4 years old daugther
Well written and illustrated book. The hard cover version is very solid and suitable for kids. Used words are not complicated for the non native English speaking. Strongly recommend!

Diabolically Overrated
This is one of those books which the middle class believes is helpful for learning how to appreciate identity differences. It is actually a litany of meaningless class signals strewn together into a weak story. The expressions, from the word "chrysanthemum" down to declaring the kid "absolutely perfect" we know we're on sure middle class footing. After "Chrysanthemum" gets (very very very mildly) taunted for her name, one of the teachers re-frames the situation by saying she'd name her daughter the same. The bullies fall in line. So, the authority figure comes in to save the day with a conclusion bereft of any meaning whatsoever. The end. I suppose the mediocrity wouldn't be so bad if this book simple wilted like a chrysanthemum in a vacuum, rather than soaking up accolade after accolade for no apparent reason. There are so many better kid's books out there. I suppose we, like the bullies in the book, are susceptible to the views of perceived authority. The irony is mind boggling.

Great book to teach children about rights and respect
Great book to teach children about rights and respect. If you are teaching in the UK please be aware that this book has the word 'pish' inside it. I'm not sure about in England but in Scotland the word 'pish' is viewed as a swear word.

It's a lovely story about a girl and her name and how she is not confident at first and doesn't like her name and later on how she loves it.The uniqueness of it. It's a very sweet story for young kids to build they confidence and let them love themselves.

Love this book, beautiful story with beautiful illustrations. Good for all ages but I bought it for my 17 year old because it was her favourite childhood story in school. She was delighted.

"Chrysanthemum" has always been one of my favorite childhood books, and now I'm so happy to be sharing it with my child! The story is heartwarming and relatable, especially for young kids starting school. The illustrations are beautiful, and the message about embracing who you are is timeless. My child absolutely loves it, and it's the perfect book to help ease any first-day-of-school jitters. I'm so glad I can pass down this classic and meaningful story—definitely a must-read for any little one!
