Its a great trimmer. I have been using it for last 1 year and it is very simple yet very effective in trimming. Pros : 1. Travel friendly as no need to carry a charger. 2. Simplicity : no multiple extensions etc 3. AA batteries run long. I have not changed dura cells even once Cons : 1. The minimum trim level is 1mm with extension and for 0.5mm you have to remove the extension 2. If you are too much into exquisite trimming it is not for you. 3. People with very thick beard should also not purchase this as width of trimmer is small. Overall if you like simple trim you will fall in love with it.

Unlike those 'rechargable' trimmers, which turn corded from cordless in a matter of 2 years, this will remain cordless for a decade (until the blade lasts, because Panasonic does not sell blades separately). And in case you where wondering 'I will have to sell out on batteries', let me introduce you ni-cd and ni-mh batteries are accessible to the common man for more than 2 decades (in case you don't know) and nowadays cost Rs 25 a piece (chandni chawlk). In fact those rechargeable models have the same batteries inside them (either AA or AAA size). The reason why this is more expensive than the rechargeable model with with a bigger blade is because with the rechargeable one, you have go to the service center changing it's battery every 2 years where you'll be sold batteries worth Rs 50 at Rs 700. So it's lost revenue for Panasonic.

This Panasonic ER240 beard trimmer was 3x more expensive than other brands that offer similar models powered by 2 AA batteries. However, the head is quite heavy and the plastic body is not flimsy at all. It's hard to describe but the motor hums like a quality trimmer should. I was surprised that 2 AA battery is more than sufficient to power the trimmer. I can't comment on the longevity or reliability of this trimmer as I've only had it for a day. It feels like a well built machine which I expect from a product designed and made in Japan. My beard isn't thick nor does it grow fast so I use a trimmer twice a week. There's 5 length settings on the comb that attaches to the trimmer. The comb slides up and down, but is quite secure. My old Braun trimmer comb had a tendency to slip when I pressed too hard. I owned the Braun for a couple of years, but the rechargeable battery couldn't hold a charge any longer. Before that I had a Philips trimmer. Same problem with the lithium rechargeable battery. There was no way to replace the battery so I decided to opt for this Panasonic trimmer where I can easily swap out batteries without having to throw the entire trimmer away. I'll update this review after I've had more time using it. Addendum: I've had this trimmer for almost 4 months now and it is still operating on the first set of batteries. I use the trimmer 2-3 times a week. I estimate I've gotten around 30-40 minutes on a single set of batteries so far and it still is going strong.

Simple. Effective. No frills, no fuss. Seems high quality and it cuts beard and mustache hair easily. Simply an inexpensive product that does what it says.
