Easy to put on my 2 dogs. It only takes about a minute to apply. They don't seem to scratch as much now.

Frontline
I use this product on my 3 Border Collies, applying once a month. The stickers enclosed are great to put on your calendar as a reminder. I apply Frontline and give the heart worm tablets the same date. When I apply it I part the hair and put a small amount on the skin in about 5 places from the neck to the base of the tail to give adequate coverage. Works very well. I recommend everyone getting their dogs vaccinated against Lyme disease. The disease can be transmitted to your dog within 30 minutes of attaching before the tick dies. It’s a devastating disease and is fatal if not caught in time. You can’t see a bullseye on a dog to know they’ve contracted the disease. A yearly shot is recommended and well worth it. I didn’t know about the vaccine until my beloved dog was in renal failure, dying 2 days later. Although I’ve always used Frontline, my veterinarian said dogs can still contract Lyme disease. So, use the Frontline and vaccinate! I have an update. If you can get an oral flea and tick medication I would recommend doing so. I have used Frontline with success, but according to my veterinarian, ticks are developing resistance to this. My male border collie exhibited symptoms of fatigue, lethargy and a change in behavior. You know your dogs personality. I took him to my vet the first of August and a full lipid profile was done. He has a different type of tick-borne disease - anaplasmosis. It is not covered by the lyme vaccine, and Frontline doesn't kill the tick before transmission of the bacterium occurs (30 min). Neither does any other topical repellant. A two week to one month course of antibiotics is the treatment. I am doing this now.

I know the dog is exposed to a lot of ticks. This keeps them off. - Updated, maybe not the deer ticks.
We have a cabin in tick heaven. I can easily find 30 ticks on my boots and clothes after a short walk during peak tick season. I put bug spray on the cuffs and waist, ticks are all over wherever I don't spray. As for the dog, we put this stuff on him once a month, nothing else. He may be giving the ticks a ride, but we haven't found any attached. Updated: Dropping to 3 stars. Somehow, somewhere, a deer tick managed to get through. Our dog now has Lyme disease, which is causing kidney damage, which is going to kill him. We tried the antibiotic regimen, but that was killing him quicker. He was unable to eat or drink while taking the meds, so we quit that and will have to let the disease run it's course. Without treatment, he won't be around much longer. 3 stars seems fair. We've kept Frontline on him continuously spring through fall every year, and it definitely kept the 'normal' ticks off him. But, it may not repel the deer ticks. I recommend you vaccinate your dog for Lyme disease, whether you use Frontline or not. Sucks to lose a dog over those D@mn ticks.
