Don’t hesitate!
Seriously buy this. Our pug has evening anxiety ever since the 4th of July. The vet prescribed Trazodone which made it so much worse and then she gave her Gabapentin which knocked her out and we don’t want to sedate her. The vet suggested to give this product a try and I can’t even believe how well it works, I would assume it was a script if I hadn’t known. We give it to her around 3:30 and by 5 she’s calm and chill, she is a little sleepy but more relaxed. It does not last all day. She is more like her normal self around 9:30 which is great bc it’s bedtime.

Miracle in a Pill
Okay, this is going to sound like it was written by a relative, but I'm just your normal, average animal freak with five resident dogs and seven cats (two are fosters). Over the years we've had probably a hundred or more animals in our home, and we tend to adopt the misfits. Mango, our overanxious, neurotic rat terrier is one of our bigger challenges. She has to modes: catatonic and, as my friend put it, "tiny psycho dog." Over the years, we've done any number of behavioral, homeopathic, and medical interventions with only modest success. After a series of very volatile outbursts, our vet put her on a strong antianxiety medication before. We were thinking we may need to prepare ourselves for euthanasia, something we aren't in a rush to do, but after three years and thousands of dollars, we were running low on options. The drugs worked, but she was so zonked out there were nights we had to literally carry her upstairs. We knew we had to wean her off of the drugs but we were apprehensive about her reverting back to her old ways. The vet said one of the other vets had good luck with Zylkene, and said while it's spendy, maybe it was worth a shot. Since she's been completely off the drugs and exclusively on the Zylkene (about 3 months), she's gone from several occurrences of attacking the other animals (and occasionally is) a DAY to maybe twice in the past three months, and very easy to redirect to preferred behavior. I truly believe this stuff has saved the life of the dog who stole my heart. She's a confident and affectionate little girl who not only doesn't fight with her siblings, but actually cuddles with them! Remarkable! I haven't had the same luck with our other anxious dogs, but if say it's worth a shot of you're at wit's end.

Not a total cure, but defiantly part of the stress relief plan
Some people may not find this to work, but for us, our 5 yr old puggle who has issues with fireworks and storms it helps a lot. It definitely works better then the doggie meds from the vet that just make it worse. We use this product along with the Thunder Shirt and we can really see a difference, of course its not going to make your pets issues just go away, its a very light sedative that for our dog takes the (edge off), when we think Buster needs it, like 4th of July, New years eve and approaching storms, we simply give him the recommend dose, and within about 20 min he started to feel a little better and within an hr he's able to go to his (safe place) and sleep. When dealing with dogs with issues, you really need to give them a SAFE place, somewhere they can go if they want and deal with they're stress. sometimes its on your lap and sometimes its in a bathroom or cage, but give them an option along with the Zylkene. Also, we play music at higher volumes for him, classical music is great. All in all, if your pet has stress issues, nothing is going to (fix) the issue easy. But there are things you can do to help and for us it the following: Zylkene Thunder Shirt Safe Place Classical music at levels not too loud but loud enough to blend in with fireworks or thunder. UPDATE~~We do use this but also some stronger prescription meds from our vet for when something stronger is needed, we happy to see a new FDA approved drug just released SILEO, so if your needing something stronger check into this.

Vet recommended for my nervous dog
Vet recommended for my nervous dog. She's been taking Prozac, but I wanted to get her off of it. It wasn't completely effective, and she was losing weight because she didn't eat as much. So I tried this, with mixed results. No more effective than Prozac, but no side effects to note. I give pills in peanut butter, and she takes willingly. I was also able to sprinkle on her food, and she still ate it. I've moved on to L-theanine, 100 mg, human grade. My dog became more fun-loving within a day or two, with no noticeable side effects. She eats it willingly when sprinkled on food. And it's less expensive than the Zylkene. Ask your vet. (S)he may not be immediately familiar with either Zylkene or L-theanine. But have them check it out. I especially like that there are no restrictions or concerns noted for either product.

Works great
Works very well. Doesn’t leave our dog sleepy or sedated. She is just calmer, able to relax and not so on edge. Hasn’t changed her personality, she is still a very happy silly girl. Before she wanted to snuggle but couldn’t relax or settle, now she snuggles for an hour+ and really relaxes.

Doesn’t work
This had 0 effect on my dog’s anxiety. I’ve been using this for the past 3 weeks and there was no change whatsoever. It’s unfortunate how expensive this item is and it’s non-returnable.

Works Wonders! Definitely Worth a Try!
I have a border collie lab mix who was never socialized as a puppy before I rescued her. She is terrified of everything and super anxious. After about a year of training with not a lot of improvement I started to seek out some anti-anxiety medication to help her out. We went to the vet and got a prescription for Clomicalm but they also recommended trying this out! Since using the Zylkene my dog has been so much better! We never ended up filling our prescription for the Clomicalm. It's not a miracle drug or a quick fix. It doesn't stop her from barking at strangers or other dogs, but it has curbed a lot of her anxious behaviors like whining, chewing up things, and more! Overall she seems so much happier when she is on this and she is a lot more successful at her training! I recently stopped using it thinking that it wasn't making any major improvements but I was wrong. Once I stopped using it the anxiety came back! I can't recommend this product enough! I wish I had known about this sooner! For dosage we give 4 of the 225 capsules or 2 of the 450 (depending which was cheaper at the time to buy). That's above the recommended dosage on the bottle as our lab mix is only about 45 pounds, but our vet said this amount was ok and it seems to be the amount she needs.
