Lovely bit of kit...
Like other reviewers above I spend a couple of weeks reviewing the available products at this pricepoint and up to £1.5k and despite some glowing - and in many cases misleading - reviews I wasn't able to find anything better than this one. I nearly copped out an bought the MacBook Air but now I've got the Huawei I'm glad I didn't. The build quality of the machine is exceptional - the ultra-thin aluminium casing comes across as very classy and the almost bezel-free screen means for a very expensive feel. It has substance as well as looks however: the screen is pin sharp and whilst not the brightest in the work is has a lovely colour balance with nice rich colours. You can crank up the brightness if you want to but I don't think this is needed... The keyboard and track pad are sensitive yet positive and again have that quality feel about them. And when it comes to performance the machine is pretty snappy - normal screen refresh is instantaneous and all but the most challenging number crunching or complex graphic rendering is delivered in short order. Most impressive of all is the startup from standby/ switched off - with the Fingerprint recognition in place you are at the desktop and ready to go in 2-3 secs - the SSD makes all of the difference. And setting up the security is pretty easy - even if it takes a few minutes, One of the features which swayed the purchase was the inclusion of the Dolby Atmos software - despite the fact that the speakers are on the bottom of the case the audio is crisp, warm and full of detail and can quite rightly be described as immersive. Listening to Charlie Parker while setting the machine up the sound was as good as I have heard from a laptop. The one concern I had before purchase was battery life - the 42 Mwh battery was described as small for the screen and the chip and only claimed 6hours of use when off charge. From my initial use under normal conditions - multiple Office applications and 10+ tabs open in Chrome - it was showing 8hours life and I think it would probably last longer. I bought a charging pack along with the PC but probably won't need it. The point is I could afford to at this process. Which brings me to the price - I paid £649 for the version with the 'fast' Ryzen chip [and it IS fast] which is HA:LF the price of any comparable machine. There are legions of laptops in this bracket - HP, ACER, DELL etc but to get this spec - not to mention the amazing build quality you would have to pay double this price. I really don't know how Huawei do it - obviously they have suffered through poor PR recently and will want to stimulate demand but how they make money on these machines is a mystery. And they have dealt with the main privacy concerns with the revolutionary closable camera in the keyboard. Anyway, very glad I bought this laptop and can heartily recommend to anyone looking for a very classy machine with some power to get you through the day. The only thing which comes near is the MacBook.

Impressed...
Straight out the box it was a pleasure to set up. Quiet and, to me, fast. Fingerprint setup no problem once you've worked out the sensor is the on-off button! Not a trace of the uneven feet/case mentioned in other reviews - sits on a flat surface nicely. No sign of the light leak mentioned in some reviews. Seems nice and cool, haven't hard the fan so far. Disk is sensibly set into two 128GB partitions. Minor quibble, power cable is a bit short but that's probably just me! Really good value so far...

Best laptop I’ve ever owned but free gift never arrived.
This is already the best laptop I’ve ever owned. It’s lightweight, sleek, looks lovely and is super quick to charge. It’s also super fast opening programs and pages instantly. Unlocking it uses fingerprint technology which I love because I can’t be bothered remembering a gazillion passwords. The screen is really sharp and the speakers when playing something totally adequate for what they’re doing. Love love love it. Just waiting for my free mate book to go with it and hoping that’s as quick as this is. UPDATE - JAN 2021. Free mate pad that was supposed to arrived within 30 days of validating the purchase of the laptop has not arrived. I can only assume that the delay is something to do with Christmas or is a ploy to get us to buy the product.

Best value AMD Rizen laptop
They'll tell you that Huawei is a Chinese government sponsored company, hell bent on stealing our data. This laptop has a vey thin profile and boots up in seconds. It's light, thin and extremely fast with the latest AMD Ryzen processor. Cannot fault in any way. The keyboard is better than the cheap crap fitted to Dell laptops costing twice as much.

great value for money
business purchase for remote work from home. Amazingly fast to boot up, lovely clear screen and super quiet. Also purchased a wireless external kb and mouse to use. Very happy with the performance of the laptop so far. In fact we have now bought more of exactly the same machine for staff to use remotely.

Easy set up, quite fast operation.
Worked good out of the box. Connects OK with my Huawei phone. Starts up fast, very easy to set up everything. So, yes, happy.

Casing distortion noise.. terrible product
There is some irregularity between the back right and front left corners, meaning the laptop doesn't sit totally flat on a solid surface, resulting in a 'tapping' movement when pressing in these areas. The problem is most noticeable on the front left corner when the lid is open, and seems like, there is a casing distortion of some kind, the 'feet' appear to have the same proportions.
