removal and replacement was easy. If you lack long arms
I purchased this replacement cartridge for a 1990 Grohe faucet. The cartridge was a genuine Grohe part, and it works perfectly. My only comment is that installation of the cartridge on my faucet was more difficult that for some of the other reviewers. The old cartridge required CONSIDERABLE force to loosen and unscrew. I had to reach under the sink and restrict the valve base from rotating while I unscrewed the cartridge from above the sink. Once the old cartridge was loosened, removal and replacement was easy. If you lack long arms, I suggest enlisting a helper to work under the sink.

Good
It works fine. But it seems I actually needed a shorter one. I was able to work the top (soft material) until it was short enough and it could fit.

I purchased an antique center faucet, set, brass. They were nice to the look but the faucets valves were inferior quality.I replaced the valves for two of these cartridges and I solved my problem. Grohe, made in Germany, excellent quality. .

Genuine Grohe part, quick ship, no leaks
22 years after installation my Grohe kitchen faucet developed a leak. After searching for an embarrassingly long time to figure out I have a Grohe faucet, I found Amazon was least expensive option for replacing these ceramic cartridges. I ordered both a left and right close 180 degree, but the 90 degree cartridges are also available here and seem to be about $10 less expensive. Both arrived in 2 days and were original Grohe parts in Grohe packaging, not aftermarket as some others have indicated in their reviews. While it is not apparent on the euro designed faucet, the handles just pull off after a bit of wiggling and the cartridges just screw out. Very simple, very easy.Do yourself a favor, use a proper box end wrench (mm) or deep socket and not an adjustable, crescent wrench, or pliers, much easier if there is built-up crud or mineral deposits. Replacing two cartridges took about a minute and could not have been easier. Easiest faucet repair I have ever done, no fiddly bits to lose. If this is the price you pay for German engineering and replacement parts, it seems worth it to me for such an easy repair.

A good source for these cartridges
On one hand it is good to find a source for these cartridges through Amazon. Grohe has discontinued the faucets. On the other hand the cartridges wear out way too fast, especially when you factor in the cost. I would expect a ceramic cartridge to last a lifetime.I have sinks with rubber faucet washers (a few cents each) and not had to replace the washers as frequently as these Grohe manufactured ceramic cartridges fail. While I recommend Amazon as a source for these parts, I will never buy a Grohe faucet again.
