Hoosier Hill Farm Dried Tart Cherries, 2 Pound , 2 Lb

I like to put dried cherries on salads and occasionally bake with them. In the local supermarket they sell small amounts that are pricey. I took a chance on these. I was happily surprised by the quality. They are soft and chewy with a tart slightly sweet taste. Very good. A handful makes a nice snack too. I wound up ordering another bag for my parents. They love it. They are tearing through it. As I write this I realize I should order another bag… you should get one. You won’t be disappointed.So far I’ve yet to find a pit (a few reviews noted occasional pits).

Don't be fooled by the "NO high fructose corn syrup" - these still have plenty of added refined sugar!Disappointed when realizing how much sugar is added! The taste if faintly tart, but is otherwise overwhelmed by the unnecessary sweetness of the massive amount of added sugar. What is it with people who think everything is better when sugar is added? Cherries are already about 80 to 90% sugar in terms of caloric value, and then dehydration only concentrates these natural sugars further - so why is it necessary to add more?These dried cherries are high quality, juicy and would be delicious if they weren't so 'artificially' sweet. Natural sweet raw cherries have about 6.5 grams sugar per 44 gram serving. But according to their packaging label this product has 27 grams sugar per 44 gram serving. That means they saturate the product with more than 4 times the sugar as compared to natural cherries.Tart cherries are anti-inflammatory and have other health benefits. But refined sugar is pro-inflammatory, thus negating some of the healthy effects of this otherwise natural product. Essentially, this is 'candy', 80% of the nutritional value is empty calories.The fact is that undiscerning consumers will mindlessly eat more of a product that has added sugar, also sugar is a cheap filler that inflates the volume and weight of a product. Incidentally, sugar additives have become the #1 source of calories in the U.S. and other 'developed' nations. Perhaps we could largely solve the problems of petroleum fuel shortage, global warming, obesity, and most heart disease simply by taking the added sugars out of our food and distilling it for fuel.Next time I'll try "No Sugar Added Dried Tart Montmorency Cherries", which have a 4.5 star ratting.

I adore dried TART cherries and these are pretty darn good... these are tart red cherries all by themselves without any other kind of cherry mixed in so I am all for that, they have good color - not brown but still retaining there red hue, however, I am not crazy about the oil & sugar - if I want them sweet I can take care of that... but all in all - I would buy these again for baking - okay... so maybe I ate some - well a handful of them - right out of the bag

I recently found a recipe for cherry almond granola that was amazing. The first time I made it I used dried cherries from the grocery store. They tasted okay but the package was $5+ and didn't contain enough cherries for the recipe. I loved the recipe but decided I couldn't rely on the grocery store version again.I found these on my Amazon search and was very excited about the price and size of the bag. When the cherries arrived I was shocked at how many cherries there are in two pounds! Obviously the most important part of this review is how the product tastes. The cherries are tart and a little sweet, just like they should be. Though dried, they are plump and moist.

Yumm-O!! These little babies make an awesome pantry addition. They are great snacks for movie watching or for on the go. They also are fantastic added to recipes like Almond Poppyseed Muffins ( I buy the easy mix from Krusteaz and just throw a couple handfuls of these cherries in there chopped.. YEESS!! Or on oatmeal or in recipes.. but my favorite is just to eat them by the handful when I want a snack! Give'em a try if you like cherries.. Cherries also have natural anti-inflammatory properties so if you take a lot of ibuprofen, these might help!

I got hooked on Kirkland tart Montmorency Cherries until Costco discontinued them. I tried several other vendors, but many of them add a lot of sugar, which alters the flavor too much for my taste. What I really like about the Hoosier Hill Farm dried cherries is they are not as sweet as the others I've tried and have a nice slightly tart cherry flavor. They aren't as tart as the Costco brand, but are still very tasty and the price for a 2lb bag is fair, compared with what I've paid other vendors. No complaints from me.

We have purchased this product several times now. I buy them two bags at a time. They are great as snacks on their own and in dishes. We will continue to buy these. The only issues we have had is with the last bag. We have had maybe three pits or pit fragments on all the other bags, but this last bag has been riddled with fragments. So much so we check each piece before adding it to anything.

These cherries are fabulous and you cannot beat the incredible price for such a large quantity! If any of the cherries are a little too dry, I just pop them in warm water for a few minutes. Most are perfect right out of the bag!!Some months ago, my doctor suggested I begin consuming Tart Cherries 🍒 (or the juice from sour cherries) for my chronic pain. Surprisingly, it actually works!Separately from whatever medicinal benefits these cherries may have, they are entirely delicious and super versatile.I definitely can recommend the purchase of this item from this seller!
