KidKraft Avalon Wooden Children's Desk with Hutch, Chair and Storage, White, Gift for Ages 5-10, 41.75 Inch

Desk came in good time. Easy to put together. It had a broken drawer that must have gotten jumbled during shipping. Gorilla glue cleared up the problem. Hairline fracture in chair leg caused it to split as soon as the screws were put in and chair was flipped over. Called the company...new chair leg is on its way. The desk is perfect height for our 50%ile height for our 5 year old daughter. I see owning it until 3rd Grade....which is exactly what I wanted (I am a teacher and it is important that my daughter can fit properly at her desk without sitting on her knees). The desk is darling...and the hutch holds crayons, a lamp, and various art supplies on top...and all of her little sketch books, and play books in the shelves. There's plenty of room for her 12x16 drawing pad, as well. Unfortunately, there is a strong chemical odor that actually caused me to wheeze and feel sick while I was cleaning my daughters room. I ended up moving my daughter to our room for the night, aired out the room with windows open and fan on...and called the company the next day. They said to put the desk outside for 24-48 hours and move it back inside. I am hoping that a little fresh air does the trick. My daughter cried when we moved it back out of her room...but if the smell does go away, she will be over the moon with the perfect little desk. We have several other Kid Kraft items...two tables and chairs sets, a kitchen, a desk, a train table, etc. and so far this is the only stinky painted item from China. Hoping we don't have to return it. Stay tuned. :0)

Perfectly sized desk for elementary age girls. My daughter wanted a desk for her 7th birthday, and is small for her age. I didn't want to get her a preschool-sized desk that would seem too juvenile, but also didn't want an adult-sized desk that would dwarf her and take up too much space in her room. This desk is perfectly proportioned. It is low enough that she can sit in the chair without climbing up into it, yet the desk has very generous writing space. I like that there isn't a deep drawer underneath the writing space (I find it uncomfortable myself when the drawer cramps the leg space and prevents you from crossing your legs). I also like that there are no drawers going down to the floor on one side like others I considered that force you to sit to one side of the desk. Since she is free to sit in the middle she can spread her things out - for example put her spelling list on one side and her colored pencils on the other, and work in the middle). It is also a plus that there is the hutch for decorating space and storing stacks of colored paper, coloring books and stickers, etc. The drawer in the middle isn't deep, but is wide and has a good capacity to hold a drawer divider to hold pens, post its, etc and still has room left over for small notepads. This desk has great functionality, I'd buy one in my size if they offered it!

We bought this for our son in July 2020 as it became apparent that Kindergarten would be happening via Zoom for most of the coming school year. This desk was perfect: plenty of space for organizing materials, enough room on the workspace for his netbook AND whatever he was working on, attractive, and very sturdy! I had planned to donate the desk once Zoom School ended, but it’s such a great piece that we’re going to hang onto it for a homework station!

Many people complained about the quality of this desk, especially as regards the drawer, so I didn't have the highest hopes. I did really like the look of it though, so I took a chance. Unsurprisingly, when we opened the box (which was not damaged in any way) we found that the drawer front was not attached to the rest of the drawer.It went together uneventfully and my husband fixed the drawer with some Gorilla Glue. The desk looks fine. Some people complained about the durability of the finish so we're going to preemptively get a piece of plexiglass to protect the writing surface. It seems like it will work nicely for our six-year-old and I'm pleased with it. It seems plenty sturdy and I like the cubbies.

This desk/chair set is very cute and easy to assemble. I am not a handy person, but was able to put it together in less than an hour. My 6 year old daughter loves it. It’s perfect size for her. My only complaint is that the white finish scratches up very easily.

What a terrific desk and chair for the price! It was not difficult to put together and I have not experienced any difficulties with it since using it. Love the nooks/shelf on the top. I have several KidKraft chairs that we have owned for 10 years and the quality is top notch. The only downside of this desk is that it is on the shorter side. The actual desk space on top is perfect, but as my daughter grows, it will be too short for her. Right now she is a tall seven year old and it fits perfectly. I like this desk so much, though, that when she outgrows it, I may just put on some longer legs if I can figure that out. It really is cute!

It was pretty straightforward & easy to assemble. It took me an hour to assemble but not difficult at all.Strong & sturdy for a 6 yr oldNo issues so far using it...it has only been a day...so I will update it if we find any issues

I bought these for my Grandaughter's last year for Christmas, they are 6 and 8 now and they are still the perfect size for them to do school work at, arts and crafts, play school, whatever their hearts desire. Super Sturdy and very nice looking .

Purchased desk as a christmas gift, one part is broke and wrong chair leg sent, daughter has contacted manufacturer and hopefully this gets resolved quickly

I'm sure it will function but top laminate piece came pre spider cracked.
