Great for bulk storage using iSCSI to access
I bought this NAS to use on my Hyper-V cluster (It is a lab environment before anyone starts saying I'm mental) and overall I have been pleasantly surprised by the unit. As far as being a NAS I concur with the comments that the unit is a tad under powered and like other NAS' the UI is a bit laggy. it is far from the worst I have used but it is definitely not the snappiest of units when working around the GUI etc. That being said it's no slouch and setting up shares and general administration is easy enough to do. I wouldn't be using this unit for anything other than bulk media storage (It is not going to be doing any transcoding or major performance workloads anytime soon) but as a box standard NAS for NFS/iSCSI it is absolutely fine. I think if I were using the system for a more inteligent workload I would be inclined to go for something with a bit more grunt for caching and managing the data but I am using it as an iSCSI target and so far I have had no issues. In fact I have been so pleased with the unit I bought another to replace a TS932X which decided it was going to permanently power off for good. The units I have are running with a mix of SSDs and 10TB+ HDDs without any issue or oddities, the iSCSI connection has stayed up with no major issues and upgrading the unit is easy but takes an absolute age to complete. The NICs on the unit are the main selling point in my opinion, this NAS got it right by having SFP+ for the 10G connection rather than copper so you have no worries of being able to use the unit as a stove top In terms of noise the fan of the unit is reasonably quiet with the disk noises overpowering it. Overall they are great units if you just need bulk storage, if you are wanting something a bit more fancy for media sharing etc I would go with a unit that has a better CPU

QNAP quality is great
Delighted with the QNAP NAS, great features, easy to setup and quality product. It’s worth the price for sure.

Great for business use as well as media streaming
Overall I added an 18tb Ironwolf Pro for main storage, a 4tb SSD for essential files, 2 x 1tb SSD for write caching and it's a solid performer, reliable and easy to update with excellent support, although if you just want Plex than I would go with something cheaper but for business use as well as general this is a winner.

Great device
I've never had a NAS before and am a complete rookie when it comes to something like this., but decided it was time I sort out and tidy up my home Heath Robinson network and storage solution. Some of the reviews said this isn't for beginners, but I disagree, even though the smart setup failed for me (it stuck at the upgrading firmware option and wouldn't go past that) I've managed to set this up with Raid 5 for the main five 3.5" bays, read and write SSD caches with two SSD's in the first two 2.5" bays and a backup Raid 1 using the two hdd's in the last two 2.5" bays. I wish I'd invested in something like this much sooner than I did, so you might ask why only a 4 star review, that's because its not perfect (nothing is) but anyone with a modicum of common sense should be able to follow its prompts to set up things and also because I had to purchase an exFAT license for my exFAT drives to work in the USB ports, although this was only about £3:50. It serves my needs perfectly but I'm not a power user, I just need my files served around my home which this is doing perfectly :)

Perfect device for home.
Perfect device in home. Fast (connected via 1x10Gtek® 10G SFP+ AOC Cable, no link aggregation) to home network. Really fast, read speed 9.5 - 10Gb/s for SSD (SA500), 6.5 - 7.5Gb/s for dish HDD (WD Red). Write speed 6.5 - 9Gb/s for SSD (SA500), 3.5 - 6Gb/s for dish HDD (WD Red). Configuration - without SSD cache. Used as SMB and DLNA home server.

Daunting to set up if you're a beginner but operates well.
If you know what you're doing and have good knowledge of managing NAS drives, storage allocation, user accounts, I'm sure you'll have no problem with this thing. However, if you're fairly new to this, it's not easy. The user guide is huge and there are a LOT of steps to setting this up, with some actions feeling like a leap of faith. I think because there are so many configurable options on this thing, it's become complicated. The HW itself seems sturdy enough and on the most part it's quiet. The only wind up being the main drive is constantly in use and tends to work slightly loose causing a resonating rattle, I keep having to ease the drive slightly left or right to stop it. I did appreciate a full collection of Hard drive screws, small thing but I appreciated it. The transfer rate is great. I've only got one cat 8 ethernet cable connected and I'm getting 112 MB/s constant transfer rate which I believe is about what the drives are rated for so no problems with that. I can't comment on multi user access as there is no need for me to do this.

Great features at this price point.
Replaced my old Qnap NAS with this, reused my old drives and it carried over my old configs and data - great. Added two 1T SSD for cache and that helped a bit but not as much as I was hoping for. I think if you want a real speed-up you need to add NVME drives which this won't take, but at this price I am not complaining. NVME capable product is more than twice the price. This was a great upgrade.

Good quality product.
this is my second qnap nas. (my third nas device) its fast and does its job. 2.5GbE is fast enough for my needs, but there's an option to use 10GbE if I need it. Good quality product.
