I've been using one of these for 5 years with ...
I've been using one of these for 5 years with no trouble whatsoever, then I noticed the insulation on the cord was starting to break so I ordered a replacement - same exact model and supplier. The new one lasted less than 2 months and the mike must be messed up because people kept complaining that I was breaking up --- I swapped to the old one no more problems. ----otherwise I would give it 5 stars - because it does really work extremely well(except for the lemon I got)......very very sensitive mike. I use constantly for work. I would highly reccommend

Not sure I would recommend, especially given the price
I had one of these with my previous job, supplied by my employer. It worked pretty well, actually, with the Microsoft Lync technology. It was tightly integrated and worked well for conference calls. I'm starting to think that this device is best avoided if you are not exclusively using Lync. (That said, myself and a lot of my former coworkers would periodically have these things die on us...I think my employer ended up replacing several of them.) Fast forward a few months, and I'm starting to use Skype a lot more...I remembered this Polycom device, which is hands free, and allowed me to walk across the room and keep talking without people on the other end really noticing. Long story short, I have not been happy with my decision to purchase one of these for Skype use. I get a lot of echo problems, and I get a lot of chopping up of the conversation unless I am constantly using the Mute button. I also can't get up and walk around the room like I could with Lync...I have to stay in my chair, two feet from the thing. I might has well have bought a much cheaper wired headset if I have to stay in my chair. If you are not a Microsoft Lync/Communicator user, think twice about this Polycom speakerphone device. You may not get the quality you are used to with the Polycom speakerphones you see in conference rooms all the time. I've been having enough call quality problems with this thing that I've about given up on it. I only wish I had decided this before my review period expired. I think my next step is to shell out money again for a wireless headset that explicitly claims to work well with Skype. Skype-to-skype, one on one, it does OK. But dial out to a phone number, or join a group call, and you will likely have call quality problems.

Excellent for Live meeting and communicator
I purchased this Polycom CX100 USB speakerphone so that I could hold a conference call from my laptop using live meeting or Microsoft communicator as quite often I end up in a small conference room or in my office with 3 or 4 people and no way to easily include them in the call. Using speakers and a microphone never works well with feedback and echoes so I thought I would give this a try.The day after it arrived I was on a plane to visit a remote site and sitting on a conference call using a land line and and regular speaker phone the connection was terrible we tried a number of times to improve the call but in the end I hooked up the CX100 to my laptop and connected to my college via communicator and the quality was excellent, even in a large conference room we could here him perfectly and he said the sound was great and no echo.Just today in a training session the trainer was having problems with the set up so I hooked him up with the CX100 and with three people remote and 15 in the room again the sound was excellent on both ends.On windows 7 just plug in the device and it is recognized and becomes the default for communicator and live meeting. There are 2 buttons on the from of the device with icons that indicate call and hang up but do nothing so I rate it a 4 on features. Otherwise this is a perfect device and I'm sure it would work just as well with skype or any other voip through a computer. Definitely recommend.

Reliability, Portability, Ease of Use - Get one of these
I've had the CX-100 for over three years now and its easily one of the best, most reliable pieces of technology I've ever used. I use it daily on Lync and Skype for Business calls, both from my home office and on the road at clients. Here are the big reasons why the CX-100 is so great:1) Reliability - Since the CX-100 plugs into a USB port, I never have to worry whether I have enough charge for a long meeting. And I've put a lot of mileage on this thing and it keeps on ticking. When I connect the CX-100, Lync and now Skype for Business immediately recognize it. And the audio quality is perfect.2) Easy Controls - The simple controls with the big buttons on the front are very intuitive. I like having the mute button prominent in the center. The big red or green LED circle which shows muting status is fantastic. At a glance from across a room, I can see if I'm on mute.3) Portability - Polycom obviously put a lot of thought into how road warriors would use the CX-100. The kickstand puts it at the perfect angle in use but folds to cover the coiled up USB cable when you travel.I like my CX-100 so much, I'm thinking of a getting a second one for my travel bag.

Works best with Lync, but still good with everything else.
I wanted a small speakerphone unit to travel with my Surface Pro 2 device - although the built-in speakers/microphones are fine on the Surface, they don't work well brilliantly when trying to involve an entire meeting room in a conference call.As per the other reviews, the on/off-hook buttons are specific to Lync (and OCS), but the volume up/down and mute buttons work fine with any application. Indeed, I've been able to host great conference calls in a reasonably large meeting room via Skype.Another perk is that the Polycom CX100 is recognised as a full speaker/microphone set. I've been able to record audio directly into OneNote - great for capturing the audio in meetings for future reference.Sound quality is great - I've had no complaints about the audio from my side, and the microphones appear to pick up voices from all directions - even from speakers placed at a distance behind the Polycom unit. I'd have no problems recommending this unit - a great portable device with top quality sound. If only the on/off-hook buttons worked with Skype...!

delivered promptly, easy to use and works perfectly.
Required speakerphone for conference calls using Microsoft Lync. Had experience of a similar unit working effectively for this purpose. This unit is easy to use and works perfectly providing excellent audio capabilities. Certainly recommend as an effective, compact unit which delivers good audio communication.

Excellent speaker and mics
I needed a desk top speakerphone for my Cisco soft phone as was spending hours in calls with a headset. after a bit of research settled on this one. Although it does say it is optimised for Lync it will work with the Cisco communicator soft phone too. I had a bit of hassle setting it up, but seems much if that was down to me plugging it into a USB hub rather than direct to the laptop.. Once direct connected it worked fine with windows 7. Comes with a nice case and the cable stores in the back of the unit itself too. Not cheap, but for me it does what I wanted and expect it to last...

Handy High Performance
Vastly superior performance compared with my laptop built-in microphone and speaker. Two handy features make this stand out: firstly the USB cable neatly folds into the back of the product making it very easy to slip into a brief case, or even a pocket. Second, there is a clear easy-to-use mute button. This was a real boon as using the screen-based mute button on Skype for example can be awkward during conversations. Further, it auto-installed in seconds on my Windows 7 laptop.

Fantastic for online chat
I bought this for work conference calls using Lync. The polygon CX100 unit is every bit as clear as my polycom desktop phone. Great microphone pick up and brilliant speaker. Also has a headphone socket. Easy to install as plug and play, and the portable case and cable tidy is very neat. One of my better investments
