I like this book a lot
I like this book a lot! There are a lot of reasons for liking it! First off, this is an e-book, so it is fast to receive and read. Most importantly, I have to say this is almost like a real proper book you are reading, it is not like some other e-books I have been reading lately. This book gives the basics of how to make any smoothie. This is so helpful - to know not necessarily the exact recipes, but rather guidelines to use to achieve the same effect just based on using the ingredients that you have on hand. I often don't end up making a long recipe if I am out of some of the ingredients, so this system is super different and helpful. Then after the basics are explained, the book is neatly organized by section based on various needs that you might have, that you would need to improve at any given moment. The book is jam-packed with easy to make, nutritious recipes. One other point - so much authority goes to the author. This is not a situation where someone is just publishing an e-book based on some questionable information to make a fast buck. Jennifer Koslo is an RD, so you can trust these smoothie recipes as they come as healthy as they can be - rich in anti-oxidants, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low in sugar and sodium. Perfect for any diet or style of eating! I have enjoyed the book greatly, and will be looking forward to trying the recipes soon!I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Best smoothie book I own... And I own a lot of them
I own many smoothie books and have downloaded many more recipes from the Internet but this book is my #1 go-to smoothie book. Ms. Koslo has listed numerous different ingredients and combinations depending on the type of smoothie you wish to create. She outlines the basics of creating a good smoothie, lists spices that can be added with their nutritional and health values, and then comes her mix and match charts. Want creamy and sweet? Chunky? Less sugar more spice? You can be the mad scientist, the smoothie barista with Ms. Koslo's book. And because she is a registered dietitian you get the benefit of her extensive knowledge for all the possible ingredients. I venture to say that this is the only smoothie book you need whether you are just beginning to experiment with smoothie making or are a seasoned pro. The chapters include: Detox and Cleanse, Inflammation Fighters, Weight Loss and Diabetes, Digestion Support, Brain and Energy Boosters, Immune Support, Anti-aging and Beauty, Muscle, Bone and Joint Support (one of my personal favorites), Heart Healthy, and Overall Wellness. She also lists the, "Dirty Dozen" pesticide laden fruit and veggies and the, "Clean Fifteen" safe and cleaner produce with a link to keep current (ebook version). There is also a Glossary of terms used in the book. There is so much information and so many helpful suggestions crammed into this book that I've had it for over a month and I'm still discovering things.Do I love this book? Yes. If you are looking for the only smoothie book you'll ever need, this is it.

Good recipes, sound information, and plenty of options
-- but then, you're not reading this for the writing, are you?Koslo's knowledge is all you'd expect from an RD/CSSD who challenges herself to keep learning. The need for an editor shows only in the introduction. Koslo can write a recipe, convey information, give explanations, and offer options, so that every reader can get the most from smoothies and smoothie bowls -- thick, spoonable smootihes served with nutritious garnishes.Koslo has grounded her recommendations in research that won't be outdated in an instant. Her reasons for drinking smoothies (eating more produce, increasing your mineral and vitamin intake, adding fiber to your diet . . . ) are sound, even if some of them are predicated on the assumption that readers are fast-food junkies who are trading high-sodium takeaway meals for healthful, homemade smoothies. She covers smoothie basics, from liquids to mix-ins; sets spices in the contexts of flavor, nutritional benefits, volume, and pairings; and offers mix-and-match charts. With those tools, a culinary neophyte can concoct excellent smoothies. Be warned, though: the print on those charts is tiny. In charts, the size cannot be adjusted.Koslo also lists items and relatively inexpensive/convenient alternatives by section: liquid, ingredients to add texture, fruits, healthy fats, proteins, vegetables, and supplemental add-ins. Her trouble-shooting section is clear and to-the-point.Sections include Detox and Cleanse, Inflammation Fighters, Weight Loss and Diabetes, Digestion Support, Brain and Energy Boosters, Heart Healthy, and Immune Support. Recipes are easy to follow and adapt. There's something for just about every need, craving, and diet. Koslo's professionalism shines in the recipes: attention to detail, carefully constructed flavors and textures, nutritional information, and recommended tweaks.I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
