History was made as Jim Clark became the first ever driver to win the Indy 500 and the F1 World Championship in the same season, was the first 'foreign' driver to win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 49 years, and the Lotus 38 became the first mid-engined car ever to win motorsports most prestigious race, and at a record speed of 150.686 m.p.h.
