Trust me, you want this card deck!
If you're looking for a great icebreaker game or need some help with coping with everything that's going on right now, LOOK INTO THIS DECK!! This small deck of cards really made a big impact on my own self reflection and coping skills as a college student going through the pandemic. As a student of the game developer, Professor Jenny Woo, I learned about these coping strategies and skills in her class. These cards really help open up your eyes as to how you personally deal with issues and how you bounce back. I'd recommend this deck to honestly EVERYONE right now since we are all learning to cope with COVID at the moment. I can totally see benefits for students and young adults as well! Self reflection and self-evaluation is something we all should practice more and this card game is an easy way to take those first steps!

The self-care, sanity-saving mental grounding kit that working parents need right now
With so much juggling - and so much stress about the state of the world - going on right now, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed, down and in a funk. This handy set of cards is very helpful. It breaks down small "coping" and self-preservation thought streams into manageable chunks. It feels like having a therapist walk you through some helpful reflections and strategies in manageable bits (and let's face it, the only time we have to ourselves these days if we're parenting is micropauses.). There are four focus areas, divided up by suit: Self-Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Skills. While it can be hard to find time to sit down and reflect for many of us, these help you do it. They are a very well thought out, helpful, way to help people manage emotions, stress, self-assessment and develop resiliency and find grace. Try it and see if you don't feel better just from taking a few moments to reflect and reorient. They can be done as a family, or just by yourself. I plan on keeping mine in my bag for when I have a few spare moments by myself in the car to sit and think, or write in a pocket journal, and also plan on doing a card with my kids a few times a week. Highly recommend!

Great Family Activity for Parents to Engage with Their Kids
I have four kids โ ages range from 8-17 โ and all of them have very different ways of dealing with stress, anxiety, and their interactions with each other. These cards are fantastic tools to use in many situations where my kids could benefit by applying their critical thinking skills and/or self reflect skills. I like how each card introduces a word/concept with a topic or situation, and poses questions or gives exercises that supports that concept. Practically speaking, they are portable and great to carry around in my jacket pocket or bag. The durable metal tin that the cards are housed in outlasts any of those flimsy traditional paper boxes. I love that I can bring the cards to restaurants and/or on our family vacations and use them as conversation starters while we eat or to combat any semblance of boredom during our downtime. Every family should have a deck!

Coping skills described on each card
There are good ideas for coping skills on these cards. The cards are good quality and the storage can is nice. I was hoping for a way to keep teens in group therapy engaged in talking about coping skills, so if I can think of a way to turn this into a game, I will do that.. so far I have not thought of anything, so have not used yet.

Exactly what I need for myself and my family during this crazy time
This new deck in the 52 Essential card series could not come at a better time for us. We've used 52 Essential Conversations and Relationships in the past for our kids and marriage, but it's been really hard lately to keep our spirits up with all the COVID-19 stress. I had less time and patience for everyone, and I was in desperate need of something to help me manage all my anxieties and frustration working from home and juggling kids' distance learning. I like how the cards are categorized by different types of coping skills so I can easily find a strategy I need just by looking at the card topic and # across the suits. The exercises helped me to look at my situation in ways I've never thought about which gave me some sense of calm and clarity...I had no idea that I had all these different options for dealing with my triggers. I haven't had time to try out all the cards yet, but so far I've found "Unboxing Emotions", "Use Your Compass" and "The Three Stooges" particularly powerful!

Not for ages suggested
Item came in new good condition. However, the cards are not appropriate for pre-teens. This is more for 16+ yrs old.
