Captan Fungicide 50WP - 5 lb

I have used Captan for years when I discovered that it was the fungicide in the combination pesticide and fungicide I was using. The label said not to use it for two weeks before harvest, because of the insecticide. But captan is safe enough to use on food products the day before harvest. So it can really save my cherry crop from the brown rot that had been destroying a up to 75% of my cherries while previously I had to watch them being destroyed, there was nothing I could do to save them. When I had some left over, I used it on my roses to treat black spot, and found it pretty effective. From what I have read, It also looks as though funguses don't build up immunity to captan, like other fungicides. Powder form makes it last a long time. So stock up!

This is the most economical way I have found to purchase Captan. I use it to try to keep the fungus "brown rot" off my plums and nectarines. So far, so good.

Products seems to be helping my fruit trees, have had some problem with brown rot on the leaves and fruit, this product seems to be working will see how it fairs out during the winter months. Had to add a circulation pump into my 50 gallon sprayer to keep it from settling to the bottom of the tank. Not every one need 50 gallons at a time I am sure, should not be a problem in small sprayer or backpack sprayer.

Good product.. would be nice if small dosage was noted on the bag, such as how much captan to use per gallon of water. I used 2 tablepoons per gallon.

This 5 pound bag of Captan is clearly intended for the backyard grower like myself, yet the directions are those only a major grower would be able to understand and use. For example, the amount to add per gallon is stated only as an incredibly large RANGE of values that, for a single type of application (in my case, western apple trees), varies from low to high by 4,000 PERCENT!!!!The instructions provide absolutely no guidelines to indicate which circumstances would dictate the lower or higher application rate. I might as well just wear a blindfold and pour until I feel like stopping.Captan is a serious chemical and I feel very uncomfortable casually exposing my family (let alone my property and trees) to dosages of unknown potency. I went to the manufacturer's website to inquire about these issues, but the form they supply leads only to a 404 error message. The product might function well, but without better directions, using it is a potentially dangerous hit-or-miss affair.

The product came in a timely manner. I was happy to get a 5 lb. package because local stores only had an 8 ounce container which wasn't even enough for one spray of our home orchard. It was less expensive to get the large amount.So far, our fruit tree look great!

Captan is an excellent fungicide, but the price here is a crime. Consider captan formulated as captan 80wdg, at nearly twice the concentration so you use half as much, your $ goes much farther. Just mix it into a slurry before adding yo spray tank.

It is doing a great job so far on my apple trees, and at about half the cost of the brand I've been buying locally.
