I am a newbie to DIY dip powder nails. Needless to say, things have gotten a little messy. Not to mention, I also suffer from dip flu. To help alleviate this issue, I bought the Melody Susie Dust Collector. And I am happy I did. It captures much (though not all) of the nail dust as I file my nails. As such, I am not breathing as much of it in. Moreover, my desk is somewhat cleaner with the dust collector. It has two power settings - Lo and Hi. I usually use it on the highest setting. The control buttons are soft touch and located in an area that is easily accessible. I find myself accidentally turning off poor changing the speed setting. Therefore, I position the control panel away from me to stop that from happening. The dust collector sounds like what you would expect. It is not overly loud. but not whisper quiet either. The power is more than adequate for the job. At first, I didn't think so. But, I tried the paper towel test. Lay a paper towel over the dust and the paper towel should instantly stick to the nail dust collector, as the suction of the fan pulls at anything near it. Cleaning the filter is easy. I shake it out over the garbage can and/or use a blow dryer on low/no heat to remove as much dust as possible before putting it back ino the machine. Melody Susie instructions suggest to change the filter every 2-3 months. But, as I am a DIYer who only uses it 2-3 times per month, I will only change every 6-8 months. Overall, I am enjoying this dust collector.

I got this as a gift for my sister who’s recently gotten into nail art. It definitely serves its purpose of sucking up all the debris from doing nails, but I will say that the fan noise can get to be quite loud. It’s nothing too bad, all to be expected. But if I had to be nit picky about one thing about it I guess that would be it.

This seems like an expensive unnecessary buy at first, but it has made a huge difference - I don't have dip nail dust flying everywhere anymore! It's so worth it. Has 3 settings for the van. It can be pretty loud on the highest setting, so I usually listen to something with headphones.

Updated Feb 2023: I am changing my rating from 1 to 5 stars. MelodieSusie’s customer service was great. I emailed them a video of the problem, and they immediately mailed me a new handpiece. I received it quickly and it has worked without issue since then. I use the drill at least once a week between levels 5-9 to remove gel and/or dip powder, and it still works great. The dust collector filter is very effective at pulling dust out of the air so that I don’t breathe it in or get it all over my desk, and is easy to clean. I purchased this item on April 1, 2022. I have only used it a few times since then, and it worked fine until yesterday. The drill completely stopped working right in the middle of use on level 5. I checked all power cords and tried different drill bits - nothing. The fan part still turns on, it’s just the drill that quit working. I am beyond amazon’s return window so I have reached out to Melody Susie’s customer service and will update review based on their response.

I've had 2 of these nail drill and dust collectors so far. The 1st one that I had, I only had for a few months and the drill part completely stopped working on me midway through doing my nails. Yes, I contacted customer service and they gratefully sent me a completely new machine for free. Awesome customer service. But the 2nd machine that they sent me ended up doing the exact same thing after a few months. The drill part completely stopped working, this time right when I was just starting. The dust collector part still works for me, but it defeats the purpose when it's a nail drill and dust collector all in one. I don't recommend getting this machine altogether.
