Malden International Designs Black Manhattan 8x10/11x14 Bevel Matted Photo Frame

I don't usually take time to write reviews unless I am 'over the top thrilled' or 'want to warn others of a problem'. I ordered 2 of these frames and they came today. They were exactly what I had wanted for a display and seemed good quality. But when I turned them over both had a large amount of mold all over the back, especially near the edges. I took them apart and the only thing unaffected was the mat. Because the mat was in good condition, I took them apart and meticulously removed all of the mold from the frame, glass and backing. The insert pieces had to be thrown away of course. I really did not have time to return them since needed for x-mas, so hopefully the cleaning I did will retard further growth. But be aware they are either keeping these in the warehouse too long or there is some other problem with handling.

Front looks nice. Sides and back are meh. There's a crack in the back of the wood frame. The sides and back of the frames are still dingy brown color. I guess painting the sides to match the front wasn't worth it to them.... It's a thin frame, but sides are still about 2/3" thick and isn't painted, so you have the rustic grey + dingy brown look. I ordered six Malden Manhattan style frames (5x7, 8x10, 11x14) and many of them arrived damaged. The frames themselves are attractive, simple, and well constructed. My plan for these frames was to arrange a wall gallery so I ordered multiple frames at different sizes which arrived in several shipping cartons from Amazon. The packing materials were more than sufficient to protect the frames, and none of the boxes were damaged. Many of the frames however were either scratched or completely crushed. One fell apart as I removed it from the packaging. Of the six I ordered, three went back, and two of the replacements were equally damaged, so they were returned for replacement. I was finally able to receive six undamaged frames after considerable shipping hassle.This experience, though unusual for me, reflects poorly on Amazon's shipping QC. The damaged frames were clearly packed in a state of already being damaged.

I ordered this for my wife for Christmas. It arrived on time and the box it came in was fine. It was heavily wrapped in bubble wrap. As such I assumed it was fine and proceeded to wrap it. Upon taking the item out of the box my wife discovered that the frame was completely in two pieces as the "wood" is so thin and cheap that it was cracked and splintered into pieces on the edges. The damage isn't noticeable until you take it out of its box which holds it all together.I requested a replacement and it arrived only two days later which was great. I've attached photos of the second item for proof of how it looks fine in its packaging but once you take it out the box you can clearly see the lack of quality materials and poor construction material.I'm honestly not even sure that if I purchased this in a physical store that it would survive a car ride home before breaking at the seams. This is the first thing I've purchased from Amazon that has left me scratching my head in terms of quality. Usually I do a lot of reading and research before purchasing any item online and have found that most negative reviews are a result of consumer fault and not a product shortcoming. Unfortunately, this is not the case with this picture frame.

Arrived with a small piece of wood broken off on the backside, in 2 areas where the back brackets secure the picture in. Box looked completely undamaged. The wood is quite light seems like particle board. Too much hassle to return it, just glued them back on.It is light, so it's easy to hang and is pretty flat against the wall compared to many frames.The gray color wipes partially off - scrub it with a dry paper towel before putting it up and it actually looks better.It's cheap for a glass front frame, but also I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a picture frame.You get what you pay for. However if it didn't match a frame we already have, I would instead go to the store and get something I can put my hands on instead for a few more bucks.

These are great frames! There is only one thing I am not thrilled with. I recently ordered a few additional frames. Of these new frames some match the same rounded back edge I already had, while a couple are flat edge. And on the flat edge ones the distance from frame edge to hook is 2 where the rounded back edge are 2.25. The overall look is still the same...it just throws it off a little. Still happy with my purchase!

I purchased 4 of these to frame Xmas gifts, and one arrived a little damaged so I had to order another. The damage seemed to just be a product defect, and didn't look like it was related to packaging/shipping. The mat is STARK white, and clashed a little bit with one of the cardstock prints I was putting in it, which had a whitish border also. In addition, the mat has texture to it- almost like a pinstripe pattern. That didn't bother me, and was kind of a nice little detail. I ordered these in a bit of a hurry and didn't realize that they didn't have the teeth hardware to hang on a nail. They do have two loops for picture wire, so that was fine. (Maybe the description says all of this, I don't know, I was just happy to find something in the right size!). I would say these are maybe a touch pricey for what they are, but truly 8x8 is a difficult size to find.

The frame is pretty fragile. It looks good, and if you are lucky enough to get one unmarred by shipping, then the photos are a pretty good guide to what you are getting. But my first frame arrived broken with major pieces splintering even with the shipping box and bubble wrap. The second replacement frame wasn't splintered on the front but was breaking apart in the back. So, although your mileage may vary, there is a real risk you'll be going back and forth on returns.

This is a very nice looking frame, however a few issues. I'm a woodworker and know enough that it's cheaper to buy a frame then to build one, but this one isn't very well constructed. The wood used is cut so thinly on the back that in 3 different places sharp splits protruded from the back. I had to take it to my workshop and glue those to prevent them from splitting further, they should have used a better material or designed it in such a way that the frame wasn't so thin the wood would split. Also, there is a build in hook only for hanging in a landscape orientation, but not portrait so I had to buy hardware and install it on the frame to be able to hang it. Not talking about standard hanging material, but rather the nail catch that is standard on every frame doesn't exist on this one. Overall a pretty low quality build all things considered, but you get what you pay for.

Very well made. Finally bought a frame without any damage on it. Nice white matting that made my photos look good on it. The only thing that I realized is it being a bit pricey. Usually when I buy items online, I don’t look at the price first only the customer ratings. Then when I receive the item that is the only time I would look at the price if the product is worth it. I love how it was nicely made but for only 3-5x7 pictures in it for the price that I paid, its too much. Still giving it 4-stars for quality.

Un muy bonito marco a un bajo precio, necesitaba un marco para una foto 5x7 y compré este y la verdad es que me gustó mucho, tiene bonita apariencia y no se le ven malos ensambles. Quiza el unico detalle es que la foto tiene que ser exactamente 5x7 para no batallar con su colocación, aun cuando la mia no estaba exacta la pude colocar con un poquito de paciencia.

The frames are the perfect warm colour to match our decor.Wonderful product

This frame is exactly what we needed to finish our set and it arrived quickly. It cost a bit more than the previous ones we'd bought, but it was hard to find a matching one, making it worth it. Unfortunately, I'm taking away a couple of stars because both the box and the corner of the frame was damaged on arrival (as pictured).
