Legal Practice Companion 2014/15

This is the first review I will be posting, and that is down to how heavily let down I feel about the quality of this book.The book has so much promise but it fails to deliver, key failings for me are in 2 areas:Tax chapters - the chapters on Tax are quite confusing and seem almost muddled together, the writer(s) seem to be working under the assumption that the readers are quite familiar with the taxes being discussed and so do not go into any great lengths to explain them and more importantly to PROVIDE ILLUSTRATIONS.Use of abbreviations - this might seem a minor thing, but it is quite frustrating when the writer(s) use abbreviations without first writing out the meaning. I know it's pretty easy to just google the meaning of an abbreviation or go to 'Table of Abbreviations' section in the book, but it's quite frustrating having to flip pages every time to check out the meaning of a new abbreviation, when the writers could easily have used the full words and then abbreviated it in the first instance it is mentioned, and then continued using the abbreviation.I for one do not feel this book has helped me get a good grasp of the topics discussed, and I will now have to buy another book by different authors in hopes that it will be better.

it’s a legal book... no fairytales here

Purchased for my partner to help with studying the LPC.It is a condensed version of the LPC notes that you would receive from your tuition providers.It is most useful if you have prior knowledge of a topic and this is just used as a refresher

LPC is a condensed guide to English law. It is very concise and clear. It is a good map for those already knowing English law. For those learning it, it may be slightly too condensed.

I highly recommend this book for anyone undertaking any form professional legal training. Simple and straight forward.
