Vic Firth's Double-Sided Practice Pads set the standard for drumming practice with a portable, two-surface pad that helps keep your chops sharp, whether you’re perfecting a new piece of music, or working on stick control. Even when played with full force at the loudest dynamic, this pad absorbs the blows and controls the volume for longer and later practice. One side features a softer, gray rubber that provides the realistic feel of a drumhead for a guaranteed wrist workout. The other side has a harder black rubber surface with slightly more volume, quick rebound and tight articulation ideal for marching and rudimentary practice. I finally wanted to start learning drum kit and asked a drummer friend for advice to learn some basic drum patterns. He recommended a drum pad to learn rudiments and practice some patterns at home. I've found this pad to fit my needs exactly. The bounce on the pad is good and mimics a drum kit fairly well. Pros: Good bounce Small (portable and easy to stow away) Quiet Cons: Small (sometimes I miss the pad since i'm still a rookie) -> i'd probably recommend an 8" pad

**Q: Will this fit standard snare drum stands?**
A: No I do not think this will work for you.  My son doesnt use a stand with any of the pads we've purchased.  The larger one may work, but this one fits in the palm of your hand...

**Q: Does the light side have a concert snare feel and dark have a marching snare feel? I play both and am wandering is this is the pad for me**
A: You are correct. The grey side is your typical concert snare, the darker side is much like a marching snare head

**Q: What is the thickness of the rubber on the soft side?**
A: Not at home at the moment, so I can't measure. But from memory I'd say about 4 mm protrudes from the recess. I'll try and remember to measure it when I get home.

**Q: Do i need double sided? Dont know what black side is for**
A: You can use the black side to practice clarity.
