2 ball joints are small vs OEM
What I like is the 5 stars control arms that fit perfectly and show no issue so far. I also like that the ball joint has strong resistance not floppy like my 2003 Accord EX V6 4DR 3.0 L original worn-out lower ball joint. What I dislike is that the ball joints head is about a centimeter(0.4 in) shorter in diameter than the OEM lower ball jointhead. This is a disadvantage when inserting(pressing) the new ball joint in compared to the OEM ball joint. The OEM ball joint requires specific ball joint press adapters for Honda to remove the ball joint. Those Honda adapters including the adapters that come with Autozone ball joint press kit, don't fit this new ball joint with a small head diameter, if you want to press or insert the new ball joint. I also think that the new ball joint having a smaller head makes it less secured tight than the OEM ball joint. On the opposite side, if the new ball joint gets bad and need replacement, its removal will be very easy because it's so small that you won't need any special adapter to remove it(but I don't want to ever replace this ball joint again. OEM ball joint lasted 200K miles, I hope this new ball joint last until the junkyard). Another dislike is that the included ball joint nut requires a 22 mm wrench or socket to tighten it(many cheap wrench set and socket set go from 8mm or 10 mm up to 19 mm and you might be unlucky to not have a 22 mm). I read a comment saying to use your old nut but I lost mine in the dumpster by the time I noticed the difference in nut size; so I can't confirm if the 17 mm original nut will fit the new ball joint. Update: My comment above was from replacing the driver side only. I'm replacing the passenger side lower control arm and it was stuck on the lower ball joint. The speed sensor was also stuck and I had to cut it, drill it and replace it. I have a Milwaukee drill, the cutter with 3" disk and a cordless sawzall. The cutter is short and work faster for cutting bolts but it couldn't reach deep to cut the stuck ball joint. The sawzall could reach there but not having heavy duty blade only medium blades made me waste 2 blades for 2 hours until I finally went to buy a heavy duty blade and used 2 feet to hold the control arm from interfering and finally cut the lower ball joint to free the stuck lower control arm. So if you have a car that is more than 20 years old, be ready with a good sawzall and good heavy duty metal blade to cut some metal in tight space.
