I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's got so much detail. A book I suspect I shall read and dive into time and time again, a huge research project. I'm planning a not dissimilar journey . This is an informative and warm work and completely referenced so every point of interest can be further investigated.

Derek Bright's account of roadtripping in search of blues heritage, Chicago to New Orleans, makes a good read: about blues legacy, about his own blues pilgrimhood, but also, importantly, about the relationship between the blues and the traumatic history of African-America. Like others, I suspect, I'm left wanting to repeat the trip..

For a long time, I have wanted to do this trip although I always considered doing it from New Orleans to Chicago. I actually have been to a number of the cities/towns mentioned in the book such as Memphis and Clarksdale. The book covered everything that I wanted to know about Highway 61 and the authors should be congratulated on a fascinating tale that will appeal to anyone interested in the history of the blues.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book...best treatment on the subject I've found.
