The Sightmark Triple Duty Universal Laser Bore Sight provides the most convenient and accurate method for sighting in rifles and pistols of all types. Simply place the arbor of the bore sight into the barrel of your weapon; the base will attach magnetically with the retractable arbor centering the bore sight automatically. A green laser dot will show exactly where your gun is aiming making it easy to sight in any scope without firing a single shot. Live fire is only needed to fine tune the weapon being sighted in order to compensate for inconsistencies, such as bullet drop due to distance. Perfect for hunters, competitive shooters and LE. The Sightmark Triple Duty Universal bore sight is sure to take the frustration out of sighting in almost any gun. It’s easy to use and will quickly save both time and money by avoiding prolonged live fire tests at the range. A lightweight carrying pouch protects the bore sight for convenient use in the field.

Critical flaw makes this boresighter useless... Great idea that failed in execution
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Critical flaw makes this boresighter useless...I was very excited to get this unique boresight that seemed versatile and easy to use. I have never used one like this as was curious to its accuracy as there are very few like it. My concerns were validated the moment I opened the package. The center pin that is responsible for seating the boresight, therefore its accuracy, is cheap plastic and has too much wobble. This means there is no way to know if you really have it centered on the bore.If you can't properly seat it, then the laser quality and battery life and ease of use means nothing. It is a shame because with a few design and manufacturing changes, this thing could put all the other bore sights out of business. The need to make the center pin out of aluminum or brass and eliminate the side to side wiggle with a more precise mechanism. Then you would the best, easiest to use bore sight ever.Loot at the video and decide for yourself. Maybe a I got a bad one but I suspect this is how they are all made.

This is the bore site you are looking for
This is the best designed bore site that I have used. Right out of the box, I put the magnetic attachment on the end of the barrel. The spring loaded cone centers the unit, and everything holds solid. I sited a couple of 9mm hand guns and a 9mm carbine. 22lr hand guns and the red dot on my 90/22. This even worked on my tiny LCP 380 to site my trigger guard laser site. That little 3" barrel is too short for any other type bore site. This is the bore site you are looking for. In the picture, my red dot after bore siting only. Target at 25 yards. Top right: standing cheap ammo. Bottom right: Standing CCI ammo. Bottom left: elbow on the bench, cheap ammo. Top left: elbow on the bench CCI ammo

Not effective
I tried this out on a Winchester 30-30 and a Western Field .222. The 30-30 I knew was already sighted in on 50 yards. Placed the bore sight on the front of the gun and lined up the gun on the target. The laser dot was high and to the right by almost 20 inches. I rotated the bore site on the barrel and got the same results. I removed the bore site, carefully replaced it, and got the exact same results. A test fire confirmed that the 30-30 was properly sighted in. Then put the bore sight on the .222 and lined up on a target 100 yards away. The target was on a 4 foot square piece of plywood. The laser dot was not on the plywood. A test firing showed that the .222 was shooting 5 inches low and to the right.I think the problem is inherent in the design of the product. Most bore sights insert into the barrel for a short distance. Basically referencing off the bore. This bore sight seems to key off the front of the barrel. In the case of the two guns I tested this on, this design proved woefully inadequate.Since this has proven useless to me, I am returning.

Very Happy With It - Once I Figured It Out
I can easily give this 5 stars since the genius design allows to quickly attach this to any steel barrel. Thee are some things to be aware of as my first impression was this thing is broken I should send it back. When it arrives the mid section parts will jiggle around. This is where the battery goes. This is a weird battery and not one you will own unless you have other tactical gear that needs them. I ordered Viridian CR2 3v Lithium Battery from Amazon they worked well. It turned out that it does come with one battery, but they put it at the bottom of the pouch so I never found it. Pro-tip = check your pouch. The plastic tube like thing presses down into a battery spring and can then be liffted out with a fingernail. Drop in your fancy battery positive side of battey into the base of the cylinder. Make sure the small metal circle plate with a spike has the spike poking out the hole The spikey hole end goes towards the pointy magnet head.Once the battery is installed the on/off switch will not feel like it is broken just swingback and forth all la-te-da like. Now it is ready to roll, but keep in mind, when people hear the word laser they think precision - laser guided missile or laser heart surgery. This is not a precision use of a laser. This is a rapid and simple method to get a crude fix on your target, you will need to fine tune your scope settings once this gets you on paper.Green versus red? Sure if you got $20 to burn, green is a little easier to see in bright light and it is just prettier to look at. I like it. Either should be fine. Will it work on your Air Gun, strangely not likely. It will fit into the barrel, but you may find your barrel is not steel and a magnet will not attach. It will not attach to a Benjamin Marauder. It seems to fit just about any barrel, but test your barrel tip with a magnet first or it may not work. Will it be exactly the same position every time you put it back on? Nope. But it will be close enough to get you on paper to fine tune it.Yes it comes with a battery, but they hide it like an Easter Egg in the bottom of your pouch.Happy shooting, do not forget to join the NRA it is only like $30ish depending on when you read this.

Not worth the cost. Does not centre accurately on the bore.
Not worth the cost. As mentioned in at least one other review that I've read, it does not perfectly centre the tool with the bore. The idea behind the product is good. The simplicity to use is great. The magnet is strong and provides a good firm hold on the bore. The problem lies in the cheap construction of the product. The retractable arbor that is supposed to centre the tool to your bore has a lot of play to it. No, I'm saying that it moves an inch, but enough where that you are moving the product on the rifle bore and are centering by eye. If this product had more robust (metal) components, I would think it to be a great product. If you're looking for a cheap bore-sight to get you "close enough", then maybe this product is for you... or maybe you might want to consider an even cheaper option. I know I'm not willing to spend $50+ on something "close enough". The price is not justified for what is a cheap plastic laser pointer with a magnet. For what it is, I'd spend no more than $20. I received this product yesterday, and will be sending it back today. I ordered this product hoping that the other review(s) stating this problem were one-offs, now I believe that the mass majority of positive reviews come from those who perhaps have not used a proper quality bore-sight, or those who are okay with "good enough". Make sure that you're okay with "good enough" at this price point before you purchase this product.

Works great for larger caliber firearms
I have read that many people here have had issues sighting in their .22 LR's and such with this magnet. It has more to do with the material and the density of the metal of the barrel than the sight itself. The sight works great for getting damn close to centered. Sighting in has more to do with getting close and hitting targets as opposed to getting a 1 MOA or center shots. That's what going to the range is for and using a range rest. The set up is confusing. The instructions are very bare minimum. It took a while to actually get this up and running but once I did I was able to sight in my rifle in a dimly lit basement at 40 yards within 30 seconds. Be aware of the battery orientation and the small parts that come with it.Overall I'm happy with the purchase. More bore sights are quite a bit more costly. While they may be more accurate, this is good enough for sighting in your scopes at home then going to the range to perfect them.

Works Great!
As long as you don't have an aluminum or plastic suppressor or muzzle brake on the barrel end, this bore sight is perfect. Came from the factory perfectly aligned unlike every other bore sight I have tried. No alignment adjustment possible, and not needed. No pesky bushings/adapters needed. Has worked perfectly on all of my pistols and rifles. Only minor adjustments needed at range...a real ammo saver!

Accurate enough to be useful(Revised: it depends....)
Actual point of impact vs the laser from the bore sight is within 4mm apart at 10 meters. In order for this to be accurate, the crown of the barrel has to be flat and perpendicular to the barrel. Works well in my case.Update(June 24, 2018): Used this product to sight in a 9mm pistol on a target within 15 feet, every time I rotated the bore sighter, the laser landed on a different spot.

The magnet that secures it to the end of the ...
The magnet that secures it to the end of the barrel is to weak to overcome the spring of the tapered wedge when used on my pellet pistols or rifles. Works well on my .22's though. There is just not enough metal on the ends of the pellet gun barrels to overcome the spring tension.
