I purchased 3 of these cables. I restored an old 1970 Home Computer that back in the days used RS-232 Serial as the interface to serial terminals. These worked right out of the box, Windows10 had no problem talking to the Serial USB device. Was a good choice for my restoration project.

If you need flow control or handshaking for your application, this is not the adapter for you. Not only are the signals not brought out on the connector, but CTS and DSR will not show as asserted in software. If your software has flow control enabled, data transmission will be inhibited. If all you need is Tx, Rx, and ground, AND your software allows you to turn off hardware flow control, this will work. Otherwise, find a different adapter. This is wired DTE and will connect directly to a DCE device.

Good adapter for old tech devices

Cannot control the DTR signal using USB/Serial adapter (from Windows or Linux).

I bought this hoping to not use the bridge of adapters from an RS232 Prolfic chip USB to Serial adapter to a DB25 to load programs in the Mazak machines. The computer setup and drivers were easy and quick, but it does NOT transfer data through it like I was hoping. Beware! Fanuc controllers use the same stuff so it probably won't work on those either!

Adquirí este cable basado en la descripción de que es compatible con controles FANUC. Lo compré y probé con 2 equipos con control FANUC. Y no son compatibles con mis máquinas. No pude establecer la comunicación. Busque otras opciones y encontré otro cable con el que si logré la comunicación.
