2013 release, the highly anticipated fourth full-length from the K-Pop stars who have become an international sensation! The album, which contains recordings dating back to 2008, is the first Korean album by the whole group after a 14 month hiatus. Member Seohyun explained the album strays away from the group's usual releases with the album being described as a "time machine" which explores the group's past and future. Features the Girls sassy remake of Duffy's "Mercy". I GOT A BOY comes in 10 different randomly selected covers.

Their second album in 5 weeks!
First thing you should know is that there are 10 different package versions for this album. There's a group version, and individual versions for each of the 9 girls. The tracks are the same but the slipcover, box, photobooklet, and disk artwork are different for each version. You can see them on youtube, search "SNSD I Got A Boy unboxing". A user named nereusmediakpop has all 10 and shows all the photos in each booklet.Track List:1. I Got a Boy2. Dancing Queen3. Baby Maybe4. Talk Talk5. Promise6. Express 9997. Lost in Love8. Look at Me9. XYZ10. Romantic St.[Update] After listening to this album for a few weeks, I love it. I like every song and enjoy listening to the entire album all the way through(not true with "The Boys"). I still like Girls and Peace better but I no longer feel like I'm borrowing an extra star from it to give this album 5 stars[/Update][Last update] After 6 months, I love this album. I especially like listening to it all the way through right after hearing Girls' And Peace up through Paparazzi. The title track is in my top 10 or 15 SNSD songs, and the video is in my top 5 [/Last update]There's an official MV for the second track on youtube, I love the Chocolate Love cat dance they do again in the video. And if the album covers had looked like that video I easily would have bought all 10. As it is, I've so far only bought 5. I really like the photos inside Sooyoung and Seoyhun's photobooklets, but I don't like the covers too much. But Taeyeon in glasses... OMG!As far as the music on the album goes, let me quote Yoona from their Korean site:"It's good in a way and not so good in another, but I will work hard since I get to see you guys with an entirely new look. I'm really concerned though... Hehe"I will say these girls get me listening to music I otherwise would never listen to. I've heard the album twice so far, I'm not sure if I'll listen to it all the way through too many more times. It seems... younger than the six week old Girl's Generation - Girls' Generation II Girls & Peace [Japan CD] UPCH-20305 (G&P - awesome album), and I doubt I will like it as much as G&P, but we'll see. Of note is "Talk Talk". It uses the same music as G&P's Boomerang, but the lyrics are different. They don't say "Boom boom loving you", my least favorite part, but they also don't sound absolutely amazing right before that, which is my favorite part. So I'm not sure which version I like better.***** Update: I was writing an update two days ago, and about the title track I typed "There are parts I really like, and parts I really don't like, I doubt I'll listen to it again". But instead of publishing, I watched the MV on youtube, then watched it 4 more times. As with the outfits and the album covers it is a serious hodgepodge, but I actually like it now. I love Yoona fast rapping, (and all the fast rapping on G&P's I'm a Diamond and T.O.P.). It would be boring if they always rapped, but I love hearing them do it now and then, and hopefully they'll do more. I can't put the song in my top 20 SNSD/TTS songs, but I still like it for the most part. I think the song is like going to a shopping mall or Home Depot for the very first time. Very overwhelming and confusing at first, but you go back a few times and it's all good. And the single is doing very well.As for Dancing Queen, I'd put it in my top 20, but not top 10. Though that is a very good list of songs so top 20 is good.Tracks 3-10 sound like they belong on the same album, though they don't sound much like 1 and 2. Whereas G&P had a lot of high energy, these tracks seem medium to low energy. Quoting wikipedia:"Baby Maybe, composed by the popular English singer-songwriter, Pixie Lott, mixes the lyrics written by Sooyoung, Yuri, and Seohyun that expresses the fluttering heart of a girl in love with a cheerful melody, and `XYZ' with a powerful synthesizer pattern is also written by Yuri and Seohyun. The album also contains `Lost in Love', the duet by Taeyeon and Tiffany, which compares the moment of the tear in the eyes with `Glass', and it expresses the changes of heart that accepts the breakup with the lover along with the time passes. The track Promise is a medium tempo ballad while Express 999, the retro pop combining various genres. "Look at Me" combines organic beat, playful melody, and easy-to-sing-along chorus. "Romantic St." is a swing jazz style song."That description helps support what I was thinking, which is that this album is geared more towards girls than guys. And to me it sounds more like American radio (R&B, urban, and hip hop elements), except that the singing is mostly Korean. But hopefully Psy and The Girls will change that.

5/5 stars for my favorite Kpop girl group, SNSD! :) <3333333333
The "I Got a Boy" album comes with a really nice photobook of one of your favorite SNSD members and it comes in a really colorful purplish album cover/package which I really, really like the most. :)And the CD itself is protected with a clear cd shaped cover/protector to protect the CD from falling out of the package.Really, really cool & very nice idea to protect the CD but for me personally I sort of don't like the fact the CD is more prone to becoming damaged or falling out because of the way the album package holds the CD in place and also because of the fact that when you get the album there is nothing covering the CD but the little cd shaped protector that sits right on top of it... But I learned that this problem could sort of be solved if you turn the album cover around so that the top of album cover would be covering the CD so it wouldn't get so easily damaged of fall out easily.... :)And as for the songs on the album itself, I only mostly like the obvious ones such as "I GOT A BOY" and "DANCING QUEEN"... and I sort of like the song "BABY MAYBE".... But the other songs on the album doesn't really catch my interest as much as those songs... So in my opinion, the overall album was okay but not the greatest... The other songs on the album besides the ones I named was not what I was hoping or anticipating for when I bought it...One last thing,"I GOT A BOY" is one of the GREATEST KPOP SONGS of 2013 and one of the better SNSD/Kpop songs in general imho! :) <33333I really, really absolutely positively LOVED the IGAB music video/song... I loved their voices, the choreography, the setting, the rainbow-ish colorfulness throughout the MV, the beat and tempo changes throughout the song and especially their awesome colorful clothing style.... I honestly really wish I had and owned every last one of their outfits! *_*My overall ratings:The colorful photobook: 5/5 stars but 4/5 if you didn't get a chance to get a photobook of one of your biased or favorite SNSD members(or if it was no longer in stock or available).... at least 4/5 to me.. ;pAlbum package: Overall I really, really love the colorful album package even though the CD isn't as well protected as it should be imho... So I'll just be generous and give it a 5/5 stars... One of the best (Kpop) album packages I've ever seen! :)Overall album: Between a 3.5/5 stars and a 4/5 stars but my favorite/biased songs on the album obviously gets a whopping 10 out of 10 stars! (^_^)...For amazon, I'll give it a 5/5 stars for my overall love of KPOP and SNSD! ;) <3333333333333

One of my favorite albums of all time
This album is one of my favorite albums of all time and that select list includes my beloved classic rock and classic hip hop. This is a pop masterpiece and the songs are really awesome to vibe to and to groove to.I'm not gonna go into detail about the title track, which is a classic of the pop genre, as it has been reviewed tons of times all over the internet. I just want to say though that I love that jam and it always makes me smile when I hear it.I think the gem of this album though is the oldie but goodie "Dancing Queen." I can listen to that song on a loop for days and won't get tired. Sure, it's a remake of "Mercy," but this version is way better and the fact that all of them sing on it makes it a surefire winner. Not to mention the music video, which was shot way back in 2009 and therefore it is a memento of that era.The other songs are great as well. The last track is a nice slow jam which I also like to put on a loop.I wish I have the Jessica packaging though. The pics look cool, and of course, it's Jessica so I want. That is my "whale" or "holy grail" but for now I am content with my group version.

amazing album!!
definitely a game changing album ((: the packaging is original and spectacular; i loved the cd cover with the member, especially, its very cute. favorite songs besides i got a boy are XYZ and lost in love. my only complaint with my album (taeyeons ver.) was that awful wig and some blurry photos. i bias taeyeon so i let it slide but i cant imagine other fans were very happy with it.
