What are the dimensions of the seat and the width between the handle bars?

Hi AnnThe dimension between the handles is 17 inches on the regular width models. The seat is 16 1/2 in width. Keep in mind you don't sit on the Volaris like you would a typical walker so you can't compare size of seat to another. The top of your thighs when sitting is the area that is between the uprights which are 16 1/2 apart. Please contact us if we can help you further. We also offer the Smart/Shadow WIDE which has a seat width of 19 inches and it is just a different color than the Smart but otherwise exactly the same in features and design.

How is it on trails and stones, etc.? As in off-road?

I don't use it on trails. Probs: Not too secure, breaks need to be tightened, wheels are loosing thread even though I don't use it all that much.

Would this work on the beach?

I have the 8 inch wheel version I don't think this will work on the beach usually you need sat air inflated tires to roll on the beach sand but other than that it is amazing on regular pavement houses carpet hardwood floors you name it people ask me about it all the time

"Can you can lock the brake when you want to park your walker?"

Yes! The parking brake is the orange lever over the handles. You simply move it forward with little effort and it will lock the 2 back wheels for sitting.
