Easy Peasy Chinese: Mandarin Chinese for Beginners

I wish I had this before I started with the HSK 1 guide itself. It is much easier going and offers some very handy tips for an English speaker to start getting their heads around the many quirks of the Chinese language. It is well and thoughtfully laid out and covers many basic but useful situations you will need a few words for. Very much a basic guide and you need to download the app and work alongside it to get the best out of the book. Recommended.

Fantastic book really helpful and informative

The book itself is great. Makes you want to learn. Very disappointed that the app has not been updated thr latest version of android, so cannot download it. Come on guys, really?

This book is lovely although it insinuates I will have an audio play along with the app but it doesn't work with my model phone. I have contacted DK but haven't heard back yet

The book itself is really good. But it heavily references an accompanying app to help with the proper pronunciation of sounds. But the app is very out of date and won't run on modern android phones.

In preparation for a trip to China, I have been learning Mandarin. I found this book and the audio file an excellent little resource, not only for learning the language, but also for learning something about Chinese customs.

Wirklich für Kinder konzipiert, aber mir als Erwachsener schadet es zum Einstieg in die chinesische Sprache auch nicht. Werde demnächst ein anspruchsvolleres Lernbuch bestellen.

Great beginner book

This book makes learning basic Chinese easy, as promised, especially if the learner has already learned another language. The lessons build on one another, and explanations are clear and easy to follow. It teaches writing in a systematic way with well-drawn strokes. Especially useful is the audio app which comes with the book. You can listen to it as long as it takes to differentiate the tones. It teaches the tree essential skills of speaking, writing, understanding.
