A step in the right direction for Apple definitely a recommended buy!!
(RECOMMENDED TO GO FOR THE 16gb RAM MODEL)I have always hated apple products for being half the power of alternative brands with twice the price tag and a lack-luster OS. However this year's (2020/2021) Macbook Pro M1 is absolutely an exception to my expectations. It semi-affordable with A BETTER price to performance than its competition. The M1 Chip is absolutely capable of editing using Premiere Pro, Hitflim and Davinci Resolve etc despite not having native support. Rosetta makes the experience seamless and if you hadn't of told me it was being emulated I wouldn't have noticed.Even with big workloads like Blender, Cinema 4D and 3DS Max the little beast continues to surprise me and surpass my expectations every time.I bought this more for word processing and basic taste like light photo editing but I've found it to be a competitive replacement for my Windows computer which is far from a slouch and nearly three times the price of the MacBookApple OS Big Sur is by far one or my favourite operating systems from its simplicity to its design. I find myseld turning on my MacBook just to look at my desktop which I can't say about any other Laptop or computer I've owned. As previously stated the M1 chip relies on emulation through Apple's Rosetta which essentially translates applications in real-time from Intel's architecture to the M1's Arm architecture which does of course mean as of writing this message many applications can't use the full power of the M1 chip and certain applications may never get support depending on their age and the development team behind the application. So if you rely on software that is designed for Intel you may be better going for the MacBook 16" from before 2020.The battery is incredibly well optimized, under a light workload the MacBook can last DAYS and I mean on and off word processing and internet browsing nothing more substantial than that.Under a hight workload (Blender/After Effects) the MacBook can last up to 6 hours if the workload is sustained. The screen is perfect for anyone who values a colour accurate display even going as far as to support P3 colour gamut. It's 500nit peak brightness makes it ideal for use in any condition even direct sunlight however because of the gloss coating on the display reflection can be a big issue in the wrong setting. The blacks are very deep which makes watching videos and movies as well as nativating the OS extremely satisfying and immersive.Only issues I have with the product are it's lack of ports meaning you need a USB C dock for EVERYTHING (I suggest buying a velcro adhesive and a case so you can stick your dock and any usb drives to the lid for ease of access and safe keeping).I also want to mention Apples tendancy to use forced obsolescence with their products which is concerning for the longevity of the product itself. Garageband no longer works unless you have an updated version of Mac OS installed and I assume that carrys over to Logic and Final Cut also so keep that in mind if you plan on keeping the MacBook for more than 5 years without upgrading.

A great laptop overall
Writing on the MacBook Pro 13' M1, I have definitely been having fun with the laptop;- Performance wise It is what most people will be satisfied with, everything is very snappy (It may be a bit slow once you open a lot of heavily-demanding software, but that is rarely the case), but anything that pushes anything GPU-bound will be just a bit intense for this laptop.(I have played a few MMOs on it, and they were perfectly fine in terms of performance, FFXIV and WoW for example in my spare time, both games hovered around 40-60 FPS depending on situation, just be wary of the fan noise as it may ramp up quite loudly! Definitely not a perfect gaming laptop, but it will do.)- Design Wise it is the nicest looking laptop still, even though it has not received much design changes overall, and the touch bar still being finnicky as always (Some may like it, some won't, it's subjective.), easy to clean with my microfibre as well; I do have one nitpick though and it is the bezel around the screen, but that is just a nitpick. Also coming back to the Keyboard, it is as many people love (Did not appreciate much of the butterfly keyboard mechanism), I love the return of the Scissor switch keyboard, and It has been a joy to type on ever since.- Speaker/Microphone wise, I have not tested much of the Microphone, but I have used it between Meetings and also some Discord calls and it seems to be quite fine, people were able to understand my voice. On the speaker-side, It is perfectly acceptable, it is of course not as crazy as the speakers from the MB16' 2019 laptops, but It does get plenty loud for some casual listening, lacking the low-end just a bit that is to be expected a bit when you cram it in such a small chassis.Overall, It's a great laptop! Can't wait for the next SoC generation and the future of ARM processor development! from Apple!
