Good-read reviews
While I didn’t expect the book to be PERFECT I also didn’t expect the cover to come with electrical tape on it. It probably wouldn’t have changed my decision to purchase the book If it was mentioned. However, it would have been nice to know. Inside the book is in great condition. I understand that paperback books get wear and tear!

Whatever.
Ridiculous price for an ancient text.

This college prof. agrees--the book is terrible
Unfortunately this book is not worth the money it costs to rent or purchase. I teach with this book (am forced to use it by the department) and it is written very poorly and confuses students more than it explains how to write well. I actually tell my students to buy the 3rd edition to save money, but that version does not have the MLA updates which you can easily get online at the OWL at Purdue University. The only thing about the older edition is that the page numbers have changed as have the chapter numbers, and a few of the readings...but essentially it is the same book.

This book does not cost this much.
There is truly no reason for this edition to cost any student that much. Your local campus bookstores are a tenth of this cost. This is a load of garbage.

The publisher is screwing people
So I went to my college bookstore, turns out there is only one option for this book. Renting, for $70. The publisher is releasing this on a rent only basis. So o don't know where people are getting copies to sell for $800 but hey. Get caught. The people overcharging and the publisher are garbage and I hope they and whoever else thought this was a good idea rot.

Sinfully overpriced
How does a company like Pearson publishing pay it's CEO a multi-million dollar salary? By gouging its customers on books like this. This should be a $20 dollar paperback. There is no excuse for what they charge for this book which is not even very good.

Have used Allyn & Bacon for years
I really like this text for teaching rhetoric-based composition courses. I've used various editions of A&B since 2006 and find that the materials in the text have adapted nicely as my syllabus has evolved. I like that the book is affordably priced as a rental - $30 here and $40 through Pearson. Don't know why people are complaining about the price - this one is not expensive.

It is ridiculous price
My professor insists of having this 8th edition which she listed out the isbn for Revel, Combination revel + loose paperback, ebook, and paperback with its price, and I dont have clue where she got those costs because I can not find. wherever I go, renting $70, more than $150 to own it.
