Antoine D'Agata, Magnum photographer since 2004, is in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where his artistic trail seems to reach an utmost point. After devoting himself to depicting desolated landscapes and borderline realities, D'Agata focuses his art on his intimate human relations. His latest work focuses on body and flesh, in a narrow room.This film catches the hidden part of his art making; his choice of living on the edge and experiencing sex with extreme vitality. It is an apocalyptic and sublime journey, similar to the ones of other heretic artists of contemporary culture, from Jack Kerouac to Antonin Artaud, from Francis Bacon to Pier Paolo Pasolini.Tommaso Lusena de Sarmiento is a film director and a director of photography. He works as director of photography for television and cinema alongside directors such as Franco Maresco. Since 2011 he has held filmmaking seminars at the Scuola d'arte Cinematografica Gian Maria Volonté in Rome. The Cambodian Room (2009) is his first feature documentary.Giuseppe Schillaci is a director and a writer. In 2010 his first novel L'anno delle ceneri (Nutrimenti, Italy) was nominated for the Strega Italian Book Award and reached the final selection for the John Fante award. Among his documentaries are Cosmic Energy (Eie Film, Hot Docs Toronto 2011) and Apolitics Now! (Stella Productions, France Television).

Clarification
This is not a review, but a clarification of a less than clear description of the product in the listing. I purchased it thinking I was getting a book of photographs accompanied by a DVD. It is actually a DVD accompanied by 16 pages of text in english, repeated in italian and french. Besides a cover photograph, there are two photographs accompanying the text.

Amazon forgot to leave out a Very important detail
This arrived on time and in great shape, however this is a PAL, non-U.S. compatible DVD. Now I have to pay someone with the right equipment - idk probably $20-30 - to have it transferred to be played on an American DVD player. I see no mention of this anywhere in the product description. Otherwise I have a feeling that this is most likely a very good documentary.

La fine della fine è qui. Terribilmente bello.
The Cambodian Room mostra le oscure condizioni nel quale Antoine D'Agata produce la sua arte fotografica. Nel film si avverte tutta la malinconia del fotografo Magnum, col suo incessante sprofondare in quella realtà avulsa dalla morale benpensante: il desiderio sessuale, il vizio sono le chiavi di volta per indagare la la "fine della fine". Film dalla regia impeccabile, collimante con lo stile artistico di D'Agata.

Obbligatorio per chi desidera capire cosa si cela dietro l'arte del fotografo.Un artista più che un fotografo che assomiglia tanto ad uno dei tanti maestri "maledetti" del passato.Documentario estremamente interessante
