Seriously capable instrument at an entry-level price
I ordered this bass from Adorama a few weeks ago. When I received it and tried to set it up, I could not get the action as low as I like without some fret buzz around the 15th fret. Aside from that I liked the bass a lot, it has great sounding pickups, frets nicely dressed with no sharp edges, nice tuners and bridge, generally a surprisingly well-made and balanced instrument at a crazily low price point. I requested a return and replacement due to the fret buzz through Amazon, and Adorama took care of it with no question. The replacement was on its way as soon as I shipped the first one. The second one came and works perfectly, it is now set up just the way I like it and perfectly intonated (it was very close to perfect right out of the box). The bass is a short scale, but the neck is thicker than the one on the Ibanez Mikro so it feels more like a "real" bass while the short 30" scale still allows for easy reach of notes. I have been playing bass for decades and have had some fine instruments, and I would consider this a completely usable bass for anything from a beginner to a gigging musician. I would recommend it without hesitation. I also would recommend buying from Adorama, they handled the whole process quickly and with no complications. The pictures in this review are from a show I played using this bass yesterday.

Fantastic Quality for the money!! Not just for beginners
I honestly don't how they can build this guitar with this much quality and only charge 229 bucks for it. I'm a guitar player primarily but have played bass for a long time. I presently own a nice yamaha full scale bass which is a great instrument, but I wanted to get a short scale bass just for the fun of it. So I saw the great reviews for this bass and thought for the price I could get it and if it wasn't good I wouldn't be out much. This bass looks great, plays great, and sounds great. You could gig with it out of the box. Just amazing. Don't hesitate to buy this if you're looking.

Great if your hands are old.
I'm 70 and my arthritic hands don't prevent me from playing. It sounds great. I have not played it at arena volume. Fender makes a great solid state amp 100 watts for your kid. You need at least that to gig with drums.

Amazing tone, feel, sound and looks!
I have the full size version with active pickups, which I love, but being a guitarist I wanted a smaller scale and slightly lighter weight. This bass has everything I need! Great neck, awesome bridge and the stock pickups sound very good. The tones range from a Fender Jazz to a P Bass and with separate volume for each pick up and master tone, you have a huge array of tones. Ibanez delivers all my needs with this amazing bass!

Workmanship flawless and already set up.
I am a beginner bass player. I’m an experience six string and 12 string guitarist. I own a Hofner bass already but wanted another bass with more tone options and a modern style. Very happy with the Ibanez Talman 30 bass. Workmanship is perfect, no sharp frets and no buzz...intonation is perfect.

This is a great bass.
Action is exceptionally low with very little fret noise. Pickups are solid, and it's very light and easy to play. I've been playing bass for 50 years, and I can't believe you can buy a bass this nice for under $200! If you are thinking about it, pull the trigger - you won't regret it.

pretty good right out of the box.
I have an old Motsumoku bass with some neck issues, I bought this TMB30, to play, while I restore my vintage bass. it came pretty well set up, stays in tune and the intonation is good. this is my first short scale bass, I like it alot, I play a lot of open strings. im a minimalist, there's more than enough neck for what I play....so yah!

Amazing Bass Guitar
I've played bass guitar for over 30 years and have owned dozens of basses. Ibanez really got this one right. The sound and playability of the TMB30 is amazing. I would recommend this bass to anyone.
