Vision X LightingHIL-STW Superwhite LED Strobe and Rock Light Kit

I installed this kit on my F-150 as caution lights when I am working in the street. They will also light up the bed of the truck if I need to work on something there at night. Just finished the job & they look great in my garage. The holes in the flange for mounting the LED light pods are very small. I ended up drilling them out to about 1/8" as that was really needed for the enclosed screws and some really small bolts that I used for mounting some of the light pods. The wire lengths are designed for mounting the distribution block near mid vehicle but I elected to put it up in the front grill where 4 of the light pods were installed. The longer wires would just barely reach back to where I mounted the other 4 on my crossover tool box, right behind the cab. The instructions called for mounting the master controller in the cab but I placed it under the hood in the corner near the fire wall. I placed a zip-lock bag on it for moisture and hopefully it will not get too hot. I hardwired it thru a fuse holder directly to the battery. The instructions said the hot wire would be black with a white stripe but it was red. Anyway, it works great and looks great.......hopefully it will be durable.

These are some great lights and offer a number of advantages over regular bulb rock lights. The power draw is low enough you can leave them on all night without worry, and they don't get hot or need any heavy wiring. They are small, can be installed in many places under your rig, and come with a very handy remote (I use this almost exclusively). The light is bright enough to give good illumination, but not bright enough to blind you unless you look directly into them.The one caveat is that, while water resistant, they are not waterproof. If dirty water gets in between the plastic lense and the LEDs (if your are doing a muddy water crossing for example), when it dries it will leave a dirty film that will build up and eventually reduce the light output.The way to get around this is to seal the back of the light to whatever you are mounting them on with a waterproof silicone or butyl (I used Lexel). In addition, I built a set of metal brackets to mount the lights on and then bolted the brackets to the underside of my rig. This allows me to remove the lights (when working on my truck) or reposition them without breaking the waterproof seal of the silicone.I'd give the concept 5 stars, implementation 3 stars, cost 5 stars, overall 4.3 stars.

I have purchased this kit 3 times if that tells you anything. I use them for rock lights on a truck.The first kit was stolen, new-in-box, from the front seat of the truck. The replacement kit worked well until the control box cracked and the prongs on the main harness became compromised. I purchased a third kit from Amazon (advertised new but I'm skeptical) that didn't work at all when tested in the box. Be that as it may during the testing of the third kit I decided to bypass the control box and hard wire the lights to the cigarette lighter adapter. This works for my application as I do not need the strobe features.The LEDs throw a good amount of light under the truck.

Were simple enough to install. They are bright, but i thought they would be brighter and spill out more light. It looks cool but doesn't seem all that practical yet. Maybe i'll notice them more in the summer when i have the doors off the jeep. The remote is kinda quirky too, seems to be labeled wrong but simple enough to figure out which button is which. All in all, i'm happy with them but they kinda seem more like a looks thing like street glow rather than rock lights, so far.

Superbright! Have to be careful where you mount them because I had them on steady mounted on my tool box and I got pulled over in North Dakota saying they where illegal to have them at that level facing the rear. If you have any problems when it arrives the customer service is really nice and easy to talk to! Thanks for the awesome lights! I'll let you know more about them as I use them more and what I do to make them street legal facing to the back

It was decent I think for the Price and the quality I would go for the AVEC Rock light kits they seem to light up as bright and you can change colors. This is nice but the Avec off road ones are multi colors.

cant wait to highlight my ride with the super bright and easy to install. plug and play. control box is about 3"x5". gonna try to find a place to mount that. connections are similar to a/c adapters, so I may have to add some silicone to seal the connection-or dielectric grease, either. I do that for all mt lights/exposed-to-moisture accessories, so it is NOT just this brand !

I really like the Vision X LED's, they are extremely bright! I did not end up using the controller, as I didn't need strobe or pulsing for this project. It is an easy plug'n'play install and will use other colors in the future for other projects!!
