Happily Letter After

When Fate Takes Hold
A sweet, yet emotional romance about love after loss and a second chance at a Happily Ever After. I shed a few tears, but was left with a really big smile after this poignant romance. This author duo never fails to deliver a touching story with just the right amount of sexy. This single dad romance will make you believe in the power of fate.Sadie works at a newspaper and during the Christmas holiday she has a feature dedicated to Christmas Wishes. She never expected a letter from ten year old Birdie to change her life. Birdie wants a few little things and a special friend for her dad as her Christmas wish. Sadie immediately feels a connection with the little girl and sends her some gifts to fulfill part of her wish.It was supposed to be a one time thing, but Birdie continues with her letters and Sadie is compelled to respond. The whole thing quickly snowballs into more than she bargained for. Sadie gets herself into a predicament when she decides to walk by Birdie's home and Birdie's dad Sebastian mistakes her for the dog trainer. And so their love story begins, so much humor and a whole lot of emotion.Sebastian has been a single dad for four years. After losing his wife, he concentrated on raising his young daughter and working to establish his new restaurant. He has no interest in a relationship. He takes care of his needs when necessary, but it's a no strings arrangement. He never saw Sadie coming, however he can't seem to ignore her once he realizes how bonded his daughter is to her. It doesn't take long for Sadie to become an essential part of both of their lives, even if the start was unconventional. This single dad romance has all the feels. A sweet little girl, a sexy dad who would do anything to make his daughter happy and a kind hearted woman who can't resist fulfilling a little girl's wish, was the perfect recipe for this special romance that leaves its mark. If you weren't a believer in fate before, you will be after reading this story. Sadie, Birdie and Sebastian were meant to be a family and it all fell into place. It was a little messy, a whole lot funny and a wee bit crazy, but in the end...it all worked out just as it was meant to.

5+ Stars - I never wanted to hug a book before this one
A strange thing happened to me while I was reading Happily Letter After, by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I almost exclusively read on my Kindle, but today was the first time in a long time, that was I thankful to be holding a physical copy of the book. Happily Letter After felt so special that I had the overwhelming need to hug the book. Is that weird that I needed to hold a paperback physically? Maybe, but this story felt like it hugged my soul.I hit the last page, and I planed to contact Vi and Penelope to tell them how I felt. I wanted to tell them that this might be my all-time favorite co-written book by them. It feels weird saying it because I love all of their books, and I didn't want to commit to saying this "was my favorite." So I didn't write my note. Instead, I went outside to reread a few key scenes with Sebastian, Sadie, and Birdie to take a few notes for my review and make a cute graphic. While I was copying down a quote, a bird decided to poop in my book, hitting Birdie's name! I know, gross. This story was all about fate; those crazy "meant to be" moments and signs in life and coincidences. You'll understand the strange significance of this random act once you read this book. I ended writing that note about my feelings since a little birdie put it out there. You would think I would be mad that a bird crapped in a signed book that I loved. Nah, it was meant to be. It was a sign that I needed to send it. HLA is on the top of my Best of 2020 book list.

Big disappointment for me
Definitely not their best work IMO. It was difficult to get into and I missed the angst, depth and fire that comes with their books. I loved the relationship between the characters; perhaps its more realistic in terms of life than maybe their other works; however I missed the fireworks and angst of their prior books. Big disappointment for me.

2 stars and that’s a gift
I am cautious when selecting one of these types of romances. I prefer a darker grittier type of romance. However on occasion I need to come out of the dark and usually go for a HR since I find them more interesting and usually they have a good passionate love story. This book sucked me in due to the great cover and many positive reviews. This book is everything I dislike in this type of story. I found the book boring. The characters were unbelievable. All the letters to Santa from a girl who was immature for her age. There was no substance no passion no real love story. This is one of those books that could be turned into one of those ridiculous made for TV movies for women.

Perfect bliss!
This book is certainly my favorite book from my favorite duo, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I was in love with these characters and their dog from beginning to end. I loved the chemistry and passion between Sadie and Sebastian. Of course the one who starts it all is Sebastian’s daughter Birdie, what an adorable little girl and certainly one of my favorites secondary characters this duo have ever written. This book gave me all the feels, it was different with many surprising twists, endearing, sexy, funny and a page turner. An unforgettable kind of read that will last in your heart forever.

A very special read, one I definitely recommend!
Another flawless offering from this amazing writing duo. Happily Letter After reminded me of a 90s romcom movie full of heart, humor and heat! The premise behind the story is so clever and witty; it was a very refreshing and different read. The issues that the story touches on were very well done and I will admit to tearing up a time or two while reading.Birdie stole the show! So adorably innocent and yet wise beyond her time. Her connection with Sadie was a joy to read and the way she handled everything that came her way was awe-inspiring.I loved Sadie to pieces! She was quirky, self-assured and so loving that you couldn't help but want the very best for her and want to BE her.My heart went out to Sebastian - he was doing his best but ultimately just falling short at playing mom and dad to Birdie. The inner struggles he had made me well up and want all the very best of everything for him.Happily Letter After is a beautiful, heartfelt and tender story of family, loss and so much more. My heart ached, I cried, I laughed and I fell in love.

Magnolia
Sooo, this book wasn't quite boring but it certainly wasn't compelling by any stretch of the imagination. Certain scenarios were totally ridiculous and they had me cringing as I read. The ending dragged on a bit but it was a HEA so I'm not complaining. The one complaint I definitely do have though.... Why is it ok in these days of religious tolerance and respect for the phrase 'Jesus Christ ' to be repeatedly used? This author used the term but not as frequently as others. Just interested in why this is ok?

Majestically written with all the feels
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have the ability to draw you into their storylines, and make you feel like your literally in the book with them.Sadie works for a magazine where she writes articles about dating and when the season comes deals with the letters to Santa. When she receives one in June, she doesn’t know the how much it will change her life ...Sebastian was a great character who was trying his best in not so great circumstances, which I’m sure we can all relate to.Birdie and Marmaduke are extraordinarily cute together! There was some hilarious laugh out loud moments. There was also several other awesome side characters who fit in amazingly well.I’m normally happy to share more details about the book and what stood out to me but I feel like if I expressed this it would ruin it. I do believe you need to go in with no expectations but your own so you can figure out or be surprised by the twists and turns. As always it was written beautifully, I thought it handled sensitive topics with ease and consideration.“Our hearts are made up of all different broken pieces that belong to others, and when we find the right one, they show us how they can all fit together again.” Personally, I think this quote sums the book up perfectly. If you enjoyed this book, I would also recommend Dirty Letters by these authors (which is my favourite book from these authors both individually and alone).
