Works well
I bought this as a stored backup in a vintage vehicle of mine.It works well and requires no maintenance perfect for sitting long periods and providing light when needed. So far it’s bright and takes very little effort to recharge

Not super bright, but OK as an emergency flashlight. Wish it didn't use a battery.
I bought this so I could leave on the shelf without worrying about batteries leaking or going dead. It's about as bright as a cell-phone flashlight, though the beam is more focused. Also, a lot of light filters out through the clear plastic case, so you can stand it up face-down and still have about 2-candlepower of light. The only thing I don't like: it uses a non-replaceable NiMH rechargeable battery, which re-introduces all the problems of batteries. It's great while the battery is new: it'll run for almost an hour on a single shake. (Also, I last shook the flashlight *one month* ago, and the battery is still charged up!!) THE PROBLEM is that over time this battery will degrade, whether or not it's used. What I really would like is an old-school induction flashlight with a *capacitor* instead of a battery. Such lights are "worse" in the sense that they need shaking about every 2 minutes, but that's fine because for me the whole point is to leave it on the shelf for 20 years and not need to worry about degraded batteries.

My father-in-law loved it
What's there not to like. You don't need batteries and all you have to do is shake it and it works. Plus this is a great way to go green.

Works great...but expect an effort
Works great...but expect an effort...to get it up and running. You have to shake it back and forth for around 2 minutes or so...and it it so good to go. Tesla would be proud.

Great value. Great way to demonstrate a scientific principle

Most enlightening.
This has really shed some light on how magnets an be used to produce electricity.

Fun light for kids
I ordered two different lights of the same technology from two different suppliers for Christmas due to uncertainty of shipment timing. This light at $30 and another for about $70 (all costs included). I found that the lower price point -this light- seemed to charge faster, be brighter, and last longer than the Nightstar JP shake flashlight. If I "had" to purchase again I would likely have opted for 2 at the lower price point from Arbor Scientific.
