I saw the infomercial for this pan and wanted to check on Amazon's reviewers. How can the reviews be so opposite? I'm hesitant to purchase.

My mom asked me for this "amazing pan" she saw on TV one night. My first reaction to her request was not too positive. I've been let down by "As seen on TV" products in the past. The first thing I did before even thinking about purchasing the pan is check reviews on amazon. Just like you, I was very sckeptical due to the disparity from one review to another. I got tired of telling my mom this was probably a TV scam. After several days of hearing my mom go on and on about this "special pan" from the infomercial, I broke down and drove to the nearest Wallmart. A store I have only been to twice. I can honestly say with complete confidence that the pan I purchased for my mom is just as it was described on the TV. I would reccomend you take a chance and try it for yourself with a small caveat: go get it at Wallmart or BED BATH and BEYOND. That way, if you don't like the way it works after you use it once, simply return it immediately. Make sure to keep your reciept along with the original packaging and you shouldn't have any trouble with the return. This way you can see for yourself if it works! After that, give a review on Amazon so we can get more statistics. This may be one of those hit-and-miss products! In closing, I have to admit, my mom loves her pan! Good Luck! PS: I paid 19.99 plus tax for the pan at Wallmart.

So many 1 star critical reviews! i'm wondering if all the 5 star "verified" ratings are from shills. how can we explain the vastly different ratings?

I was just reading through these. I hadn't read the reviews beforehand either. I thought it was kinda funny how that one person said that 5 star reviews were short sentences while the 1 stars were highly detailed. That doesn't mean any hanky panky is going on. Think about it. "Do You like it?" "Yes, I think it's wonderful!" - or - "No, because blah blah blah blah blah". That's how real life works. I think it's important to see the many different kinds of experiences. I just don't understand how mine doesn't stick at all but some people stuck like an iron skillet with no grease. I just ordered an 11.5" pan because we liked ours so much. I hope I get "lucky" twice in a row because I really like that pan.

What is "gotham steel"? is it made of of steel or titanium? Or are they using deceptive descriptions to describe an aluminum pan?

100% fake steel. The pan is aluminum while the handle is steel of some kind. ALUMINUM becomes discolored and a toxic layer of aluminum oxides forms slowly and more quickly in a dishwasher. There is a statement on the package to that effect but any mention of aluminum is omitted.

How does it compare to the Green Pan?

Greenpan (the brand not the actual green pan) is much better. I bought a set of Greenpan frypans 7 months ago and I use them nearly everyday. If you take care of them, they will last. The same theory applies to cookware as it does in life...you get what you pay for.
