Ok for the price, for beginners only
This is a very nice set for beginners. Bow is nice - brand new, so make sure you put a lot of rosin. I really like how it's a complete set with a nice lightweight case, shoulder rest, tuner, cleaning cloth and rosin. The sound of the instrument itself is OK - acceptable for beginners - but you get what you pay for. Maybe with upgraded strings it would have a bit bigger sound. We had been renting a $900 instrument, but are moving and needed to return the rental and bought this one instead. This one was much less than that, so in comparison to the price difference, the quality for price is pretty good and I think it's good enough to tie us over to the next size.

Great starter fiddle but no lessons for violin\fiddle
This is a great violin\fiddle for a new learner. I bought it to relearn to play. I was disappointed that the included lessons were for the guitar/madine only. No violin or fiddle lessons are available.

Broken bow
I just purchased the violin for my daughter who is starting with a new instrument and as soon as I open the box I noticed the bow was broken. I returned immediately. It’s very disappointing that after the wait the violin can’t be used. Now my daughter has to wait for at least two more weeks to get a new one when I’m already paying the classes.

Excellent for the price, only for beginners
Disclaimer, I know next to nothing about violins; this was a starter violin for my 6th grade daughter as she is taking an elective violin class at school. OK. For the price, cannot be beat; this is a working violin, i mean it sounds like a violin to my untrained ears, the sound may not be deep or rich, or whatever other adjective violin players use, but hey! for the price, you can get to verify if the user likes it short term, and then move on to a better one. I took it for a tune up to the local music shop, the guy took maybe 5 minutes to fine tune it. He said it was a good little starter violin, but do not expect much than that. The music teacher did say that the bow was kinda crappy, so we bought a better bow ($50) made of real horse hair (I believe) and bought better rosin. Other than that, the case is great, and the other things that came with it, like the chin holder and tuner, is a nice plus. So if you are barely starting out with the violin, and don't really know the future, this is a great buy.

Defect
I am a violin player and bot this for a potential student. Should have known better. Best go to a music store. This is defective. Notice on the picture the G string is on the edge of the black finger bar. I tried to adjust the wood string holder to the right but when you tune it up it slides to the left. The bottom unit that holds the strings is off centered. I'm returning this. I feel sorry for those that are not familiar with this instrument and would never know it is flawed.UPDATE:Well today 10-13-22 I bot one from a music store. You really have to inspect the violin before you buy. I assumed it was fine but when I went to give to my student, the fine tuner didn't work at all! Went back to music store for exchange or refund. They only offered to "fix" it. Conclusion, I'll probably buy from Amazon and if there's a defect, I can get an exchange or refund.

For the price, I'm pretty pleased
I'm a vocalist/guitarist/small human in a 4-piece band, and one of my bandmates plays the viola. I wanted a cheap bowed stringed instrument that didn't sound exactly like his viola, so I grabbed this little violin. I'm planning to add some new elements to our music with the violin, and I'm sure it will oblige.Pros:•Good quality construction and tone for the price, according to my bandmate.•Nice case, tuner, and spare strings. You'll need these if you pop the E string immediately like I did :)Neutral:•Bridge needed minor adjustments, but I hear that's normal with violins.•Sting quality? I'm not sure if violin E strings break easily, but the issue is easy to resolve. I'll probably try some higher quality strings in the future.
